Rose was a pioneer in recycling. If we couldn't use it, she would find someone who could. I can recall the many times we filled up the car with unwanted usable items, to be dropped off at her garage (which I wonder if it ever had a car inside?) knowing that Rose would find someone who really needed it. When anyone had a special need, you knew that Rose would always find a way to fill it. If knowing that you made a difference in just one persons life by your actions is living, then Rose has lived a thousand lives by the number of people she has truly helped. Even though I have not seen her for many years, she had always been in my thoughts and prayers and will be truly missed by many people.

Rosie–isms, 1997: “I love every moment of life… wouldn’t change a thing… I have loads of friends, they come, we talk, we spend time… I enjoy shopping, I’m a perpetual shopper… I get lots of stuff at bargain prices… I buy door prizes for Super Club (and things for Father Close at Mercy Home... I am one of his Guardian Angels)… people say I am nuts… I spend money (that others would spend on cigarettes)… they call me the Queen of the Nuts…I have sold nuts for the Disabled Veterans for about 28 years… every year I dress up as Santa Claus for the veterans at Heinz Hospital… I spent 40 years with the Apostolate of the Handicapped… pay attention to the blind… they are terrific… I get a thrill out of work for the handicapped… feel 10 feet tall…”

We'll miss you Auntie Rose.
