I have only known Rosaleen for just over three years and I thank her family for allowing me that privilege. She was a beautiful person who raised a very loving and caring family. I will always remember her great welcome, her hearty laugh and mild manner. She will always be my angel.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. In addition to being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she was also a wonderful and caring aunt. She had to look after an extra tenant during the busy summer of 1974 when I was treated as one of the family. She also encouraged me to continue my studies whenever doubts arose despite the demands of the medical life, of which she was all too well aware.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I remember so many wonderful things about your mom. Growing up on 62nd St. she was always the medical expert. She was such a kind and generous person. I'll miss her smile and the twinkle in her eyes. What a remarkable woman!!!

I have learned this morning of the death last weekend of my beloved friend, Rosaleen McDermott, retired Head Nurse, Holy Cross Hospital, Chicago, IL. Rosaleen took a motherly interest in a cocky, green punk attorney at Holy Cross in 1980. She often gave him Hell, telling him how much he disappointed her, how often he fell below her exalted expectations for him. Her criticisms could be withering, especially because they were almost always on target.
That punk feared her righteous wrath, but loved her all the same and she loved him. Her harshest scorn and her highest praise were delivered with the same twinkle in her eye. It was impossible not to be drawn to her, to love her. I'll not soon forget her.
I hope she is joined today in Paradise with both her beloved Myles and her grandson, Bobby.

I am presently in Florida and am sorry I cant attend her wake or Mass. I
