Ronald Heaton Obituary

Heaton, Ronald E. 68 of Plainfield, IL passed away September 17, 2013 while being attended to by his wife Karen S. Heaton and the lovely staff members at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. He was born to the late Ralph and Rachael M. Heaton June 11, 1945 in Aliquippa, PA. He is survived by his devoted wife Karen Heaton of Plainfield IL; a son Jonathan Heaton of Elgin, IL; stepdaughters Rhonda Conaway (Scott) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Gina Johnson of Naperville, IL, Julie Rubin (Randy) of Henderson, NV; stepson Robert Rubin (Adrianna) of Tampa, FL; brothers Richard A. Heaton of El Paso, TX and Randall J. Heaton of Alexandria, VA; and sister Rhonda S. Fera (Vito) of Lake Mary, FL and 10 grandchildren. Ron was employed with AT&T from 1967 until his retirement 14 years ago. An avid golfer, cook (he made the best biscotti's, ever!) and wine maker who found joy spending most of his time in the company of loving family and friends. Ron was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in January 2011. He fought this dreadful disease with dignity, strength, and a whole lot of humor. His attitude and ability to fight showed remarkable courage to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy lives on in all the people who's lives he touched. His last days were spent with those closest to him and who loved him very much. There was a private memorial in his presence and a private luncheon will be held in his honor as he wished.

Ron worked in the Addison Garage when I worked in Lombard Frames. He was super nice and always treated everyone well. Ron had a great sense of humor and always smiled when he came in the frame room. My condolences to his family.

Worked with Ron at Newcastle Frames. He taught me the ropes. Speaking of ropes we went skiing and Ron never got the hang of the tow rope on the bunny hill. Said he would wait in the bar for us. You'll be missed.
