Roger Adams Obituary

Adams, Roger H. age 72, beloved husband to Patricia Adams, beloved father to Roger Jr., Marlon, and Dawn. Roger was the first Black Afro-American to work at WMAQ Television as an Associate Director and Floor Director back in the early 1960's. He was dedicated and worked for NBC TV for 36 years and retired in March of 2001. Roger was also a ballad singer making night club appearances, he recorded hit songs played on the radio like, "When Shirley Smiles" and Ma She's Making Eyes at Me." He will sadly be missed by all who loved him and those he touched. Visitation will be held at Charles Jackson Funeral Home, 7350 S. Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

He was a life long friend to my father Archie James and to me as well. I miss Roger and my time spent with him at the Chicago Merchandise Mart at the NBC Studios back in the mid 1970s doing Cue Card work on shows like the "Kup´s Show".
