Degen, Rochelle age 92, beloved wife of the late Sidney, loving mother of Clara, Harold (Shirley), Charlene and Geri (Richard Nosek) Degen, adored grandmother of Paul, Ellen, Tamar and Gabrielle, dear sister of Ann (Harold) Brenner and sister-in-law of Esther Strigler, cherished aunt of many. Service Tuesday, 1 p.m., at the Weinstein Funeral Homes North Shore Chapel, 111 Skokie, Blvd., Wilmette. Interment Shalom Memorial Park, Arlington Hts. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity. For info 847-256-5700.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Just seven months ago I loss my mother. While tremendously sad, it was a wonderful celebration of her life! Go, celebrate the life of your mother, repeat her stories and the stories of her life while you smile and cry at those remembrance.

I really enjoyed your mom when I was a youth and as adult. Your mom and my mom would frequently be the only two people sitting in the balcony during our musical assemblies. I enjoyed watching her sew by using her foot to power the sewing machine. When I saw her a few years ago I called her Mrs. Degen and she told me to call her Rose but naturally it was hard for me to do. I have great memories of her and I know you do.

With the passing of your mother, I have lost a part of my youth. In memory, I can still see your mother at the front door whenever I came over to visit. Those were grand old days. How special she was to you, and to everyone who knew her. My sincere and deepest condolences to the entire Degen family, especially to my long time childhood friend and buddy, Harold.
