Robert William (Bob) Van Houten, age 87 of the Tellico Village Community, Loudon, TN passed away March 31, 2015 at Parkwest Medical Center. Bob was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. He attended Orange County community College in Middletown, New York and City College in New York City. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a life member of the Boy Scouts of America. Bob retired from Abitibi Price as a National Sales Manager. Prior to joining Abitibi Price he served as a District and Regional Manager for Boise-Cascade Corporation. Bob was a graduate and instructor in the XEROX sales training course. He was also a graduate of the Kepner Tregoe Course in Problem Analysis and Decision Making as well as having graduated from the Dale Carnegie Course. Bob and his wife, Joan, retired to Tellico Village in 1992. He was a member of the Community Church at Tellico Village, and was also active in the Tellico Village Woodworkers, Village Golf Committee, American Legion and served on the Neighborhood Service Committee.

He was preceded in death by his parents Myron and Ethel Van Houten and his brothers, Charles and Don Van Houten. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joan Seeley Van Houten; daughters, Lori Van Houten, Lisa Van Houten and Lois Chilcote (Charley); grandchildren, Rachel, Megan, Bradley and Stephanie Chilcote and Robyn and Kathryn Klopp.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Noon in the Founders Chapel at The Community Church at Tellico Village. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital at Office of Development, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
