Mr Spies was the Band teacher at Roosevelt High School when my twin sister Jennie and I played clarinets. This was 1967. He was a marvelous teacher. His love of music and choice of selections inspired us all. Wish I could have known him in later life to thank him for his inspiration.

I was sorry to hear about Mr. Spies, my sympathies to your families. I was in the RHS band 1961-1964, later I became a band director at Lane Tech. I also student taught at RHS. Mr. Spies talked about his children and his model railroad.

My deepest condolences to the family. Mr. Spies was my band director in High School. He was loved by so many students. I only regret that he couldn't join us at our Reunion dinner a few years back.
God rest his soul.
