Robert Richter Obituary

Formerly of Newburgh and Montgomery, N.Y.

Robert George Richter of Odessa, Mo., a retired Correction Officer for Wallkill Correctional Facility, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Blue Springs, Mo. He was 84.

The son of Frederick P. and Caroline Schiepan Richter, he was born September 12, 1922 in Hewlett, N.Y.

Bob graduated from Wallkill High School in 1941 and on May 30, 1946 married Alma Virginia Fowler in Walden. He worked as a correctional officer at Wallkill Correctional facility for 25 years retiring in 1981. Bob is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Oddessa, Mo. He is a former member of the Wallkill Hook Ladder and Hose Co. and served as assistant chief and treasurer. He is also a retired member of Union Chapter #82 of State Correction Union Members, the Wallkill Masonic Lodge #627 in Walden, and a past member of Mount Hope Lodge in Odessa, Mo., and Newburgh Lodge #309. Bob is a member of the Martha Chapter of the Eastern Star of Odessa and past member of Walden Star #560 in Walden.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Virginia Fowler Richter, at home; daughter, Suzanne C. Harris of Bates City, Mo.; granddaughter, Kendra Redden and husband, Brad of Odessa, Mo.; two great-grandsons, Joey and Pat Redden.

He was predeceased by his brother, Frederick Richter.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 11 a.m., at New Hurley Reformed Church, Wallkill. Burial will be in New Hurley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, Odessa, MO 64076.

Arrangements were made by Millspaugh Funeral Directors.
