My deepest sympathy and prayers are will all of you. It's been quite sometime since I've seen all of you, but my memories of O'dell street and Bob are always there. He was a great neighbor and friend to my parents and family. He may be gone, but never forgotten.

To the Moon Family,
My sympathy and condolences on your loss. I was a Federal agent fortunate enough to work on a task force which included Bob. It was an experience I will never forget. Bob was a tireless worker with an incredible sense of humor. Like others who have checked in to this guestbook, I am still occasionally telling Bob Moon stories and I haven't worked with him in 15 years. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Moon Family,
This is a sad time for all that knew Bob. Bob would want all to remember the good times, the great times, the times that are the most memorable, and I'm sure that there are many. I was fortunate enough to have worked with Bob at the Intelligence Section, and then later at Area Three. Bob was always a dedicated family man first, and a truly professional Police Detective second. He is the type of Police Officer that the citizens of Chicago should be proud to have had serving them. He was truly a very unique individual, and his sense of humor was outstanding. He truly will be missed, but I'm sure that he will continue to be dedicated to his family and friends.

Mike, Pat, Mrs. Moon & Family -
It's almost impossible to find the right thing to say in these situations, but the closest quote I have heard is:
"The greatest gift we can give those who have left us is to live fully in their place."
In these difficult times, know that friends from all chapters of life are thinking about you.
The common thing I see in this guest book is how Mr. Moon made folks laugh - and I definitely remember that. As recently as last month, I was telling the story about how his toll was paid while he was on duty by the guys he and his partner were trailing.
Stay strong and keep your heads up.
Sincerely,
Tim Powell

Kathy, Michael & Patrick,
Its so hard to believe that Bob is gone. I will never forget him. Since the day we met in the Police Academy in 1970 he made quite an impression on me. Through the years he made me laugh like no one else could.
I know its because of the three of you that Bob fought so hard to beat his illness. Thank God you have each other. Bob was a great guy, a great friend, one of a kind and I'll never forget him.

Cathy, Mike, & Pat -
My sincerest condolences go out to you and your family. Although it has been several years since I have seen Bob, I have fond memories of what a great person he was. To this day, I am not sure I have met someone with so much character and the ability to make everyone that was around him laugh out loud. I am proud to say that Bob was my Godfather and I am certain that I would have never had anyone else that could have filled that role better. It is a true tradegy that the best people on this planet tend to leave us much too early. We will always be thinking about you.
Deepest regards,
The Fath Family (of Maryland)

Dear Kathy and family, I have so many good memories of Bob. He was so special and caring. Very few people could make me laugh the way Bob did. He touched many lives and we are all better people because of him. May you all have peace and wonderful memories of your husband and father. Love, Judy

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I will remember the time I saw Mr. Moon. He was throwing out the first pitch at the White Sox game. I believe the pitch was a little inside, but he hit the glove!
He looked good I think he may have been able to go two or three innings.

Dad,
I thank you so much for being the best father in law that anyone could ever ask for. I thank you for all that you've done for me, for accepting me without hesitation as part of your family. You never failed to make me smile or laugh out loud. There are so many memories that I will cherish forever - shore lunch in Canada, hurricane watching in Florida, dinners and parties, or just visiting and talking. Your time with us was too short, but I feel blessed to have had you in my life. I will miss you always!
Love,
Heather

Dad,
Losing you has put a hole in my heart which will never be filled. I will think of you and miss you every day of my life. Everything I learned about being a man I learned from you. You are truly the finest human being I have ever known. Your honesty, integrity and ability to make other people laugh are some of the qualities that made you such a shining example for Pat and I to aspire to. Although my heart is aching terribly, I can take some comfort in the fact that you are no longer suffering, and are finally feeling the peace that you so deserve. I love you, and I miss you.

Our paths haven't crossed in many years. I went to Hamilton elementary school in Chicago with Bob. His dry wit and different take on things made others seem dull in comparison. Our paths crossed again while we were both with CPD. His same wit and intelligence were apparent there too. He will be missed by many.

Dad- I miss you already. Melanie and I are so happy that you were able to be apart of our wedding. When we have children, I hope that they have half as much character and strength as you did. You and Grandpa both were loved and admired by more people that I know. I am so proud of how you fought over the past two years. I will always remember the great times we had together, but I will also remember the past year, when we were going through this as a family. Mel and I will never forget you or what you meant to us. I know you are now with Grandpa walking on some beach feeding the seagulls, smiling. And that makes me smile. I will keep you in my heart forever. We love you Dad.

Moon Family:
I send you my love and prayers.
Bob was a loving person who was very devoted to his family. His kindness and joyful nature will truly be missed. He was always quick to notice the little things and gave with his heart. He made me laugh during happy occasions and feel honored to know him for his achievements.
Kathy, Mike, Patrick, Heather and Melanie: I pray that you find peace and comfort this week in happy memories and one another. I am with you in heart and spirit.
All my love,
Heidi
