I was privileged to know Bud through our many years of membership on the board of Chapin Hall Center for Children at the University of Chicago. Bud often gave me a ride to our board retreats on the North Shore. His dedication to supporting the efforts of Chapin Hall to develop policies that supported all children was inspirational. I gradually learned about his work with WITS and other Chicago organizations. Bud was a delight and a huge contributor to life in Chicago.

When our young family moved into Hyde Park-Kenwood area years ago, we were following in the footsteps of Bud Lifton to help renew the special neighborhood and the housing around the University of Chicago. Bud Lifton and his burgeoning family provided a nucleus for which I am grateful. The interracial aspect of urban renewal provided the challenge which Bud clearly understood and helped us all to deal with it successfully. I send condolences to his family as we celebrate his long productive life.

My father had met him in Chicago and was highly impressed by him. I didn't have the privilege of meeting him but know of him through Amy and Raj Gupta.
May he RIP and strength to his family.

I had the privilege of working alongside Bud on the Board and Executive Committee of WITS. His commitment to the CPS kids we serve was second to none. He was an inspiration to all and we will miss him dearly.

What a loss for the world. Bud was one of the kindest, gentlest men I knew. I will never forget him. I was fortunate to work with Bud at BPI.
