Bob was my mentor at Republic Steel when I was fresh out of college. He really was an anchor for me during the turmoil of the steel industry and the economic downturn of the early 1980s. I will never forget how he guided me through the difficult times. Words just can't describe how much of a friend he and Veronica were to my wife, Kathy Allen, and I when we lived in the Chicago area. We'd kept in touch off and on since 1983, when we moved back to the Atlanta area.
I have attached a photo taken on Bob's birthday (7/11/2014) by Bob's brother, Tom, when Kathy and I visited him while he was recovering from a broken hip.
We will miss Bob so much! Rest in Peace, Robert!
