Kabats,
He was one of a kind. I'm happy I had the pleasure of knowing him. There were so many good times, 4th of July, trips in the bus to China town, germanfest, on & on. Sorry I missed the wake/funeral.
Keep your chin up Karin! You too Kurt.

Today is Father's Day. My God this is awful. I won't be able to call you and tell you that I love you and that hurts so very much. I still wake up and start crying knowing that you will not be at the train when I get there. I long for the day I can turn that corner and not look for you...and not cry. I wish I would've come over that night and saw you. I never would've thought that you would die that night...nobody did...except for God. I miss you terribly, but I know that somehow you are still with me. I write this through tears of pain and sorrow but also through tears of love and hope. Although your absence is so palpable, your presence is undeniable. I know you are watching over me. I love you and miss you so.

Dear Laurene, Bob, and Jan,

We were very saddened to hear of Bob Sr's passing and send you our sympathy and prayers. We enjoyed our time in Puerto Vallarta with all of you and will remember the lively dinner table conversation and energetic personality of your husband/father and will miss not seeing him in years to come. We have great memories from that trip and thank you all and Bob Sr. for being a large part of that.

Dear Laurene and Family,

Our deepest sympathy on the passing of Bob. He was someone we will never forget. He really was one of a kind. We have fond memories of the many hockey trips that Bob and Kurt went on. We shall miss seeing him out at the flea markets, also.
May your memories of him comfort you as you mourn his loss.

To the family of Robert Kabat:

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Robert Kabat. I am truly thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of his life even though it may have been just a small part. The years I spent with the Mighty Meteors and the lifelong memories I gained from those years will never be forgotten. Whether it was vacationing at Walt Disney World, going on camping trips, arriving at our games in the Mighty Meteor bus, or spending three weeks in Taiwan and the Philippines, I know these things would not have happened if not for Bob. Even as those years past, I remained in his life whether it was going with him on a road trip to Ohio State to watch Kurt’s game, running in to him at Do-Rite, stopping by the house on Christmas Eve, or talking to him in his garage a couple of months ago (one of the last things I remember was him showing me this huge firework he had on the shelf and telling me that that was going to be his final sendoff). I am deeply saddened by his death and want all of you to know just how much Bob meant to me, that he had an influence on my life, and that I will never forget him.

When our father passed away, we were so moved by Mr. Kabat's emotion and affection. Our dad liked nothing better than a good rummage at a Saturday morning estate sale with Bob. He was a man of such spirit and forthrightness. We remember him fondly as a good friend of our dad. We are all so sorry to hear of his passing. You are in our thoughts.

Dear Kabat Family,

ROK was a very nice and generous man. I will miss hearing his stories about the old days at the CME. He was a part of the fabric of the floor. He will be missed.

Dear Kabat Family,

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of "Coach" Kabat. He will be dearly missed. I know I speak for my brothers and many young men from the Melrose Park area in saying "Thank You" to "Coach" for all the time, effort and resources he gave during his lifetime to help mold & develop young men throuh his involvement in sports programs. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God bless the entire Kabat family in this time of loss and sorrow.
