Raynelle, Your husband died a year after mine did. I am sorry for your loss as I know you are. It is so painful. I hope you are connected with a grief support group, maybe thru hospice, even if you didn't use hospice. If you want to talk or connect I will leave my eamil. I have tried several ways to get your address to write but OWU is ultra private. Always plan activities for special dates, i.e. anniversary. That helps. But grief will ambush you anyway. Just go ahead and cry. No one can fix your grief. As a Christian I have found it helps to put things in God's hands. He loves us. Grief takes about 2 yr. to get to the "new" normal so take it easy and if you don't want to deal with finances or all of that legal stuff, don't. It will be there when you want.
Again, so sorry to hear you are going thru this. Sally Smith Jordan, [email protected]

Our sincerest condolences to Mrs. Heidrick and her family. Mr. Heidrick was a truly wonderful man with a kind & generous spirit. Were it not for him, my son would not be graduating college next year.

Bob was my first and best ever boss at American Hospital Supply. He was one of the most positive people I've ever known. His sense of humor was contagious. He was humble and thoughtful-two very rare traits! He will be missed by all of us who were lucky enough to know him! Our hearts go out to his dear Raynelle and family!

Iam so sorry to hear of the passing of the most amazing grandfather as I was hired to take care of his precious twin grand babies by him and his darling wife, Raynelle. I know he is going to be watching over his lovely daughter and the twins, till one day they meet in the heavens. I had the honor of knowing this true gentleman. May God give his family pease at this time. Linda Salem/newborn nanny

To the Heidrick family:
Bob will be deeply missed by many. As a newcomer to the Conservancy I had only recently met him but was immediately impressed with his sense of humor, compassion and enthusiasm. Peace be with you in this time of sorrow.

Bob was my friend for 44 years, and will live in my heart the rest of my life. He was the only person I knew who always seemed to know and do the right thing, who always thought of others, and did for others unselfishly.
His love for Raynelle, Lindsay, and the twins knew no boundaries. He will be looking out for them forever.

To the Heidrick Family,

Bob was just a couple of years ahead of me at Duke, and we worked together on several business issues in Chicago. We also played some fun golf together. He is and will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Raynelle and family during this time of sorrow, may you draw comfort from the Holy Bible in order to cope. God knows the pain that you are going through and he will help you to endure.

What a guy! Bob was such a gentleman and a real pleasure to be with. Who was more enjoyable having dinner with than Raynelle and Bob? And who was more fun to play golf with and see him try to win 2 dollars from you? We will really miss him. Rest in peace Bob, Lucy and Jerry Welch

Years ago, Bob and I worked together with Heidrick & Struggles. His father Gardner, hired me in 1978. Bob and I worked together on a few projects together and I developed a very high regard for his professional approach to search - the same way that his father instilled in me. I know this is a sad time for you and the family. Please note that Bob was well liked and respected by all partners at the firm. Please accept my condolences. Gene Rackley

Always known to me as "Uncle Bob", your infectious smile, charm, wit and friendship will be missed forever. You were more than just a dear family friend, but also provided me with guidance, wisdom & advice through the early years of my career, always the upmost in class! My only regret is that I did not get to see you and Raynelle more in recent years, having moved to the West Coast. Yet the few times we did connect, by phone or in person, were cherished! You are in a better place, and I hope some day we can all reconnect and play a round of golf, have a beer, and some cheer! God Bless! Love, Charlie-

I, along with Bob and five other of our classmates, was a co-chair of the 1963 Duke 50th Reunion this past weekend. Over the last year we had several conference calls to plan details and Bob was his most positive, funny, helpful self. We were all looking forward to seeing him and telling the old stories one more time! How Bob loved Duke!

I copied a verse from a greeting card not long ago that I found true: "We will never be the same as we were before this loss, but are ever so much better for having had someone so great to lose." Bob's passion for the people, institutions, and causes that he loved was unsurpassed. His life was a gift.

Raynelle, my heartfelt sympathy to you and all who love Bob and will miss him.

April 17, 2013

Raynelle, we will miss Bob's humor and his bright expressions when William/Emmet stories were being shared.
Bea and Noah(esp Noah) are very sad, we are very devastated as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Laura, Robert, Bea, and Noah

Dear Mrs. Heidrick, and Bob's family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will always fondly remember Bob purchasing sock from the conservancy for his "chunks of love" twins when I first met him. He gushed over them and showed me photos on his phone. He was one proud grandpa- and he will missed greatly.

To the Heidrick family,
Bob died over the weekend of his beloved Duke's 50th class reunion, the class of '63. The members of his fraternity at Duke, Phi Kappa Psi, remembered Bob and sent him a photograph of the gathered brotherhood with a sign stating that we missed him. All of us talked about Bob and how much he meant to us. He was very active in alumni affairs at Duke and we were so sad to hear of his passing.
Our deepest sympathy to Raynelle and the rest of the Heidrick family. Our prayers go out to you during this difficult time.

We will miss him terribly but he leaves us a rich legacy of leadership and wonderful memories of our times together. He will be very much with us as we continue the work he started here. You are in our thoughts and prayers

April 16, 2013

Dear Mrs. Heidrick, and Bob's family: I was so distressed to hear of Bob's passing. I had not seen him since our days at Duke, but his smile was unforgettable and his enthusaism was contagious. I will pray for his soul and for peace in your hearts.

I've known Bob for as long as I can remember. To me he was "Uncle Bob" Always the gentleman with a generous nature. He expressed great love and affection to his family particularly his beloved daughter (my step sister Lindsay) and her two precious sons. Not to mention his love of and generosity to the game of golf which many in our family share an affection and affinity to. I can't forget Duke basketball! Which, alas, Bob stood in a minority on that one :)
To Bob,
Perhaps some day you'll look down from on high and see your precious grandsons wearing the Duke Blue (Pantone 287), Kentucky Blue (Pantone 286), or Pantone Kansas Blue (Pantone 293). But today we are all blue because of your passing.
I like to think that you are now in that paradise where you get to play 36 a day, the drives soar 300+, and the 1 putts fall like Seattle rain.
God's Speed! We miss you.

Kindest and warmest regards,
Gil Valentine

To Raynelle and the Heidrick Family-I have only known Bob as a fellow member of the Conservancy Board in Naples, Florida. He was a commanding presence at every meeting I attended and had extraordinary leadership qualities. He also had the special ability to make people feel relaxed and had a wonderful twinkle in his eye . I will miss Bob for his friendship and devotion to a cleaner , better environment in Florida. May God be with you as we all mourn the untimely passing of this good and gracious man.
