Gambino, Rita Lorraine "Lorry" age 83, born May 27, 1925, passed away March 27, 2009, beloved wife of the late Anthony "Tony" Gambino, dear mother of Veryl Gambino, Rita (the late James Gates) Gates, Mary (Roger) Shaw and Anthony (Maria) Gambino, cherished Nana of Anthony, Roxane and Alexandra Gambino, loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Rita spread love everywhere she went. She made friends easily and her home was always open to family and friends. She was a wonderful cook who loved entertaining and always made her guests feel welcome. Rita loved to travel and after raising her children enjoyed a career as a travel agent. After retirement she and Tony moved to Florida where they lived for 16 years, making many more friends and enjoying the ocean. She served on various boards and organizations and involved herself in local politics. She moved back to Chicago in 2004 to enjoy time with her grandchildren. A remarkable woman, Rita was an inspiration to everyone who knew her with her limitless energy, generosity and independent spirit. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She will be honored at a Funeral Mass Saturday, April 4, 2009. 10:00 a.m. at St. Giles Catholic Church, 1045 N. Columbian, Oak Park, IL 60302. Inurnment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
