Dearest Salata Family,
I was so saddened to learn of your beloved Dad & Grandpa's passing. What a terrible loss to our world. If God would have just made every man & woman from his mold the entire world would have been a totally different place to live our lives! He was a totally genuine, loving and truly joyful person - always! I will forever hold him in a very special place in my heart! All of our families are so lucky to have so many wonderful stories to share with each other about our Uncle Richie! I'm sure he and your Mom are either bowling or dancing today!
LOVE and peace, Ronda

Uncle Ritchie, my godfather, was the nicest man you could ever meet. I know what it's like to lose a parent and I want to share my feelings with my dear cousins, Peggy, Jody, Ritchie, Jill and Martha;

To celebrate his new life
With inspiration to bestow
That he's in such great company
Is comforting to know

We are blessed with a special gift
In sharing of such love
Among our family diamonds
Watching from above

With great respect and pride
In raising the bar
These angels have announced
"We have a brand new star."

Dear friends and former neighbors,
We remember Mr. Salata so fondly from the days when he used to live on Royal Crest Court or would visit. He was always such a gentle man, and fun to chat with. We're so sorry to hear of his passing. We'll be out of state during the services, but are sympathies are with you all.

Dear Jill, Peg, Jody, Rich, Martha, and members of the family:

I was saddened to learn of the death of your dear father, Richard Salata. At times such as these, words are unable to carry the full message of comfort and consolation which we want them to bear, but they are all we have. Having experienced the death of my own father in 1995, I am aware of the deep emotions which accompany such a loss. Be sure of continued remembrance of him in my prayers and those of all the Brothers here at Lewis.

May the Lord continue to hold you as well as all your family and friends in the hollow of his hand and may you find his comforting presence in the silent power of prayer, in the wisdom of the Scripture, the nourishment of the Eucharist, the beauty of the liturgy, and in all his holy people gathered round you to help us.

I join my voice to the ancient hymn of the early Church:

May the angels lead him into Paradise.
May the martyrs come and welcome him on his way
And lead him into the holy city, Jerusalem.
May the choirs of angels welcome him.
And with Lazarus, who once was poor,
May he have everlasting life. Amen.

I close with the traditional prayer which we Brothers have prayed for over three hundred years:
Live Jesus in our hearts--Forever.

With sympathy and promise of prayers,
Your Brother,

Maureen Mezan-Cardenas
