Richard Lysakowski Obituary

Lysakowski, Dr. Richard S. Born January 12, 1923 in Warsaw, Poland. Passed away August 23, 2010 in Warsaw, while in Poland for the summer. Loving father of Anna, the late Mary, Richard, and Peter Lysakowski. Beloved longtime companion of Helena Danielska. Memorial visitation will be Friday, September 24th from 4 to 9 p.m. at Casey-Laskowski & Sons Funeral Home, 4540-50 W. Diversey Ave. Memorial Mass 10 a.m. Saturday, September 25th at St. Hyacinth Basilica, 3636 W. Wolfram in Chicago. Interment Maryhill Cemetery, Niles. Richard survived three years in a Siberian death camp and served in the Polish division of the Royal Air Force. He earned a degree in Business from the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago, and a Ph.D in education from the University of Illinois in Chicago. Worked as an Accountant for Standard Oil and Amoco, and as an educator at several Chicago public schools, retiring in 1999 from Foreman High School. Author of two books, Siberian Odyssey and Syberiskie Wizje. Member and former Director Council of Polish Educators, member and former President Polish Teachers Assn, member Siberian Assn, and member and former Secretary Polish Airforce Veteran Assn. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Assn appreciated. 773-777-6300.

Although I have seen no picture, I believe this is the Richard Lysakowski with whom I worked at Harrison High School in about 1976. I did not know of his passing until I read it in the Chicago Teachers Union Paper. The family has my sincerest sympathy. news
