Hi Grampa,

It's been four years since you died. Four years since we all gained another guardian angel. You have impacted my life in so many ways.

My room is full of quotes and newspaper articles you clipped for me. My vocabulary is peppered with Rich-isms. You inspired me to achieve, to use my full potential, and when I get to that point to keep thirsting for more. I hope to accomplish as much in my life, as you did in yours. Your legacy lives on in all us Furjanics.

My faith in a god is pretty shaky, but I pray to you constantly. I talk to you. I hope you hear me.

Nobody is perfect, but in my eyes not many people come close to you. The example you set is a lasting one. And you practiced what you preached. I still have my journal of goals, and I'm continuously adding to it.

I graduate in December. And when I receive that diploma, I'll be thinking of you. Thanking you.

Thank you for being such a wonderful man. I am so grateful to have had you in my life, and that I can share stories about you with others. You are not forgotten.

Unfortunately there's no cherry pie today...rats!

I love you Grampa. Zivio.

Love,
Monica

Grandpa Furjanic,

I never got the privilege of meeting you, but you were obviously a very special man. A woman who is very important to me has told me that you are the greatest person she has ever known. While I'm a bit jealous that you hold that title, I'm sure you've earned it more than I ever could.

I hope you are smiling down upon the countless people who love you. I hope that you can comfort them at a time when they miss you more than ever.

Thank you for being the man that you were. You are an inspiration even though I've only ever heard stories of your greatness. One day I hope to be the type of man/grandfather that can be remotely compared to you.

Hey Rich Purcorkim! Dad. etc. You were the greatest mentor I have had and you will be missed. Your humor was too original and fun. The folks in ER loved it all. I could go on-inon about you but then everyone might think your cooler then me!!! And obviously you are...

Miss ya! A lot!

Laura: I am so sorry I was unable to come to your father's wake and give you a hug in person. It's been years since I've seen you (our SFDS day) but I haven't forgotten you. I send you and your family all a big hug as an expression of my sympathies of the passing of your father. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I was so saddened to hear about Rich. I shared the same classroom at Thornton to teach general science. His jovial personality kept us smiling for many years.

I, too, like Harold Hanley was deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Furjanic. I will always remember him and his wife, Vi, as well as everyone in the Furjanic clan. Whenever I came home from Northwestern University, I would always run into one of the Furjanics on the East Side. I have very fond memories of the Furjanics as well as my wonderful life growing up on the East Side. My thoughts and prayers are with all the Furjanics and their families at this time.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Furjanic, who was like a second father to so many of the kids in our neighborhood, and whose family shared so many years growing up with members of my own family, and myself as well. The Furjanics' set many examples of what a family is supposed to be all about to the many who knew them. Richard Furjanic and his family will not be forgotten and will live in the hearts of all who knew him and his family. Everyone who knows even one of them knows this and are proud to say so. Richard, you always found a special place in many people for all time to come. You have earned you special place on this day for eternal peace. Well done, my friend. We'll be there to greet you again and share that same peace many of us knew while you were here. Our prayers for you and for your family are present on this day. God Love You.

Dear Vi and Family:

May the Lord be with you all at this time of sadness. Rich and I go back a long long time. The hang out on 94th street and Bowen High School.

.After we married and started having children, he would always tell me that
Vi was more of a women than I was because you gave him several more off springs than I had. He did also remind me that we both suffered a great loss in our life time.

God will be with you.
