Richard Bitterman Obituary

Chanukah just ended, and I reflect and miss our beloved Rick, and you Bindy, every holy day. No: every single day.

Dear Bitterman family,
I remember being in Marshall Fields and looking at some
incredibly compelling earrings and ring. They were very contemporary and I was only about 24 years old, if that.
I splurged and bought them both because I simply couldn't choose. I am now 58 years old and cherish them . I spoke with Mr. Bitterman once not that long ago to tell him how much I appreciated his work. I am so glad I had that opportunity to do so.
I just learned today, 8/13/2012 , of his accident and your
loss. My thoughts are with you all...belated as they are.

Dear Bindy,
We just found out that Richard has passed away. Although we haven't seen you for a while, we have such wonderful memories of fun times together, especially antiquing week-ends, endless talk about cars (the guys) and everything else imaginable...we laughed a lot, learned a lot and enjoyed our times together. Dear Mrs. Bitterman, Ronnie and I have only met you a few times, but Mr. Bitterman's wonderful jewelry has been a part of our lives for years. So very sorry to hear of his passing. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Every beloved life is indelible, but Ric was sui generis, the truest of friends, as unique and rare as his masterpieces of art. And we feel the irretrievable loss of this masterpiece of a man, our precious friend.

I met your father many, many years ago and I still have my "Bitterman" tallit clips that I only use on special occasions for fear of losing them. We keep a beautiful kiddush cup that he made in a special place.

May your memories of your father bring you comfort in the days to come.

We were fortunate to have shared happy times with you, Bindy, and Richard. Richard was truly an original. We are so sorry to know of his death. Take strength from your loving family and friends.

Bindy, Lincoln and I (Renee) are so very sorry to hear of Richard's death. We are deeply touched. It was such a please knowing and spending a little time with the both of you when we lived next door. Bindy, you are in our prayers and have our best wishes.

Nineteen years ago, my mother in law bought me tallit clips from Richard that I still cherish. She bought tallit clips two years ago for my son's bar mitzvah, and last fall for my daughter's bat mitzvah. He was a truly gifted artist - we offer our sincere condolences to his family.
