Years ago, I was hired by Steve and Randi to work on their home on Park Place. The job involved a long punch list of a variety of things they wanted done, prior to moving into their new house after they purchased it. The twins were small infants. One could not help admiring their life - two very nice people and new parents to those precious little boys living in that beautiful home.
Today, I worked on a small project for a friend who lives one block south of their home in Evanston. The homeowner mentioned to me that Randi had passed away. Learning of this news is a real shock and makes me very sad.
My only sibling and brother, Tom, passed away in December of 2006 at the age of 46. There are many similarities to Tom’s passing and Randi’s passing. It’s heartbreaking and brings back a bunch of horrible memories for me. It’s something you never get over. It’s something you learn to live with and learn how to manage over time. My prayer for Steve and Randi’s family is that all of you pull together and stay close.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Enamored of the French language and culture, Randi was a dedicated professional who shared that passion daily with her students. She will be remembered her as the vivacious, enthusiastic, and creative colleague we were privileged to know. Please accept the heartfelt condolences of the Chicago/Northern IL Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French.

I enjoyed interacting with Randi. She was a great parent. She was supportive, nurturing and she raised independent boys. Ethan is always on task, he knows where to find materials and he is a great problem solver. I am sure that Jonas has similar characteristics. I extend my prayers and sympathies to Steve, Ethan, Jonas and the family of Randi Levin! God Bless! Love, Jasmine Sebaggala

I am struggling to process this news. Randi was one of my deepest, most interesting and insightful friends. We met at District 39, when she started as the French teacher, I as the German teacher. We had so much fun over the years, and as life moved on we always kept in touch. I always loved my visits, phone calls, book recommendations and deep conversations with her. I always hoped to go to Montana with her (the place I heard so much about!). My deepest condolences go to Randi's family...especially Steve, JoJo, and Effie. My heart breaks when I think of what you all have to endure. I will never erase my "Randy & Steve" ipod playlist I used when they would come to visit. It was a combo of the Grateful Dead for Steve and funky tunes I knew she would love. Randi, I will miss you forever. Rest in peace, my friend.

Heartbroken, completely heartbroken....Randi was a wonderful, wonderful woman who I will never forget. I taught with her at Washburn for a couple years and kept in touch after I moved to AZ. My eldest is the same age as her twins. I just feel like it is a bad dream. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I enjoyed talking to Randi at teacher conferences. She also volunteered in my classroom and went on field trips with the class. I know that she was a wonderful and loving mother to her two boys. I have had the pleasure of working with Jonas. He has made great progress this year. I am sure that she would be very proud of him. To the family I send my deepest sympathy.

I recently re-connected with Randi after several years following the death of one of our law school classmates in March. She always made me laugh and took great delight in introducing a redneck to Chicago culture. She will be missed and I extend my sympathies to her family.

The pain must be beyond any words I could offer and nothing can soothe....she will remain my "little sister": her beauty, her brightness, her entire personality: unique and irreplacable, and she will never be forgotten by those she has touched. To Sheila, to Stan, to Scott: I am feeling the loss across the ocean, though we only recently got back in touch. My heart goes out to you and her entire family. I am struggling to understand.

I am so sorry for your loss. My memories of Randi will be forever joyous. We were friends since grade school. There were countless times I rode my bike from Morton Grove to Chesterfield to hang with Randi. We did high school plays together. We met up in France after college. Randi was one my closest friends from back home. Although I live in Los Angeles, we never lost touch. She was so beautiful and intelligent. I always told her she was the midwest Jennifer Anniston. I will forever cherish the wonderful memories I have.

Mdme Levin,
Thank you for the kindness you showed me during my years at Washburne. Kids could be mean, but you always raised my spirits with a joke. You introduced me to the French language and I will always be grateful for this. I remember when your twins were born. You were so excited and so were all of your students. We will all miss you.

Dear Levin Family,
When we first met Mrs. Levin last year her smile and exuberance filled the classroom. We could immediately tell what a special teacher she was. She captivated the students and parents as she spoke of her passion for teaching French. To use her own words, "She was a star!". We are forever grateful to her for giving her gift of knowledge to our son. Our hearts are broken and we are sorry for your great loss.
With deepest sympathy and prayers,

Randi and taught together at McKenzie School in Wilmette in the early 90's. She taught French to my fifth graders, and we shared a classroom. Lots of great, fun memories, especially of Septembers when we would celebrate our shared birthday with our students. We kept in touch as neighbors in North Evanston and also shared the joys and trials of raising twin boys--mine are ten. I send my heartfelt condolences; she will be greatly missed. Sue Epler

My sincerest condolences to the entire family.
I met my soul sister over twenty five years ago when we were both law students working at my father’s law firm. We instantly formed a bond that was so special. Not only did we look alike but we related on so many levels. We celebrated the happy times together and were there for each other during tough times. Randi will always be a part of me and I will cherish the wonderful memories I have of her. Her beautiful boys will forever have a true angel by their side.
