Ralph Shaw Obituary

As a kid I shoveled snow for Ralph and Juanita, I would help them cleaning out the basement or the garage occasionally. They were the nicest people! I would wake up at 5am to go over and shovel the snow off the drive way and stairs/deck. I vividly remember shoveling the driveway near the vent for the dryer on the side of the house, I could smell the laundry and always thought it was strange that someone would have their dryer going while they were still asleep. . . It didn't occur to me until later that Juanita was probably up at 4 doing the laundry almost every day! She clearly took good care of Ralph and they both were so nice to me always. Fondly remembering his sense of humor and some of the reflection on life he would give while we were cleaning out the basement, going through a lifetime worth of things he had accumulated. I wasn't old enough to enjoy it but I remember his basement bar set up was fantastic and it was always fun going down there(even though I wasn't having cocktails at 12). I remember the neighbors all talking about his "legendary" bar, that if Ralph asked if you wanted to go down there, you went!

Thank you Ralph and Juanita for being so nice to me always and helping me embrace being an early riser. Taught me about how to be responsible and do a job well!

I was so saddened to learn of my "Uncle" Ralph's passing. I have known him since 1971, when I worked as his secretary. Over the years, he and I kept in touch and I was always grateful for his wisdom and friendship. My condolences and prayers to Juanita and Pam.

Kim and I send our love and prayers to Juanita, Pam & John and our entire Saint Andrew's family. No one will ever know how much Ralph strengthened us during one of the most difficult times in our lives. He touched so many lives; truly, his was a life of significance.
