Dear Calvin and family:
Please accept my sincere condolences upon the loss of your wife. She must have been a wonderful woman. Perhaps you may remember me from Madison Street and Central Avenue. My grandfather and grandmother were Herman and Julia Martin who owned the hardware store at 5523 Madison. I lived in the little house in the back with my mother, Virginia, and my brother, Joe, until we traded with my grandparents and we then lived over the store. My mother had remarried and we now had another little brother, Bill.

I remember your mother and father so well. They talked about you and I am sure you more than lived up to their expectations. I was sorry when you lost the election for County Board President. I did not live in Chicago at that time. I live in St. Joseph Charter Township in St. Joseph, Michigan, with my husband of 47 years, Fred. Our 4 sons are married and the oldest 3 each have 2 children. I remember Irwin and Ada fondly. We went downtown to one of Ada's recitals at a Michigan Avenue address. Please say hello to them for me and once again, condolences on your loss.

Fondly,
Virginia Beverly Sansone (Stainer)
