Phyllis Kos Obituary

Kos, Phyllis

Phyllis Kos, age 75, of Chicago, IL, passed away on January 10, 2023. Phyllis was born in 1947 to Walter and Veronica (nee Wilczak) Kos in Chicago, IL. She is survived by her son, Ian Kos (Laura Goschy) and beloved granddaughter, Lucy; two brothers: David (Ingrid) Kos and Leroy Kos (Liana Alis); and a sister: Janice Jobling. She was a proud and beloved aunt and dear friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Veronica. Phyllis was a graduate of Kelly High School in Chicago and earned her degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She retired while working for Oak Park School District 97. An avid reader of books and ardent movie watcher, Phyllis always enjoyed a good discussion of either. She was always ready with an insightful analysis of politics, and stood up for what she believed in. She took great delight in listening to and dancing to music as well as growing and eating tomatoes. Phyllis also loved the beach, especially the beach at Union Pier, MI. A Celebration of Phyllis's Life will be held at a date and place TBD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Planned Parenthood would be appreciated.
