There always have been and there always will be many tales of lore about the Legendary Phil Kolovitz, many of them unfit for sharing in this forum. By far, his greatest feat is how Phil, with significant guidance from Mary, created a sense of normalcy for their beloved son, Alex. Without any reservation whatsoever, Anthony, Marla, Adam, Lisa, Georgia, Sara, and Carla provided their constant support in this endeavor with their selfless caregiving and their love for Alex, and their parents.
For three decades, we were in awe as we watched the entire family devote their loving care for their son and their precious little brother. They have been, and continue to be an inspiration for all in dealing life´s challenges with humor, grace, and dignity. We are truly grateful for God´s plan that Alex was specifically given to this unique man, Phil Kolovitz, my equally unique sister Mary, and this exceptional family.
May he rest in peace.

I lived down the street from the Kolovitz clan on Carpenter St
I remember the day we were playing baseball in front of my house and Phil and Kenny walked down and sat on the curb
They had just moved in
We became friends and I went to Ascension with Kenny
We spent countless hours together playing every sport imaginable along with many other great moments I better keep to myself
I think I had a crush on Linda back then but she was too old for me
The last time I saw Phil was at Kenny's funeral
Sad day
We went to the bar afterwards and talked about old times
I mentioned to Phil that his dad was always very kind to my family
Including me when father/son things happened and driving us to track meets and basketball
Kids too busy growing up did not notice
I did
Phil cried
We hugged and said goodbye

Great person and great family

Our condolences to Phil's family and friends... Many a fun night was had at our neighbours' poker nights on Woodbine when Phil was there... Folk were introduced to a whole new series of words, seemingly made up on the spot. A grand neighbour, always willing tae lend a hand...
Bless his soul...

The Hefner's was blessed when Phil joined the Family 51 years ago. Phil was a wonderful husband, a great father and a devoted friend. We all have many stories where Phil was there in a time of need, He never said "no" to a request. Gone yes, but Phil will be in our memory forever. The man was a a true giant!
