So long ago -- Mr. Miscinski's passing, his return to Mather to be honored by the Zeolite Scholarship Fund and the Mather Class of 1964, and sitting in his History Class. A well live life that made so many others better for it, mine included.

Hello Mr. Miscinski.
You were my US History teacher at Mather in, I believe, 1975-76. At the time, I was too young and crazy to be a good student, but I'll never forget your passion for teaching history. My condolences go out to your family. Infinite Peace to you.

Hello, Mr. Peter Miscinski.
I'm writing to you with your family's approval to touch base. I trust that you are enjoying your rest from the faithful labor you gave to our city and world.
(Pete), I remain grateful for the kindness you share with me at the (Old Town Boys Club) as my tutor and mentor, during my (childhood/teen years). Thanks for everything!
Lastly, (Pete), I have good news! I'm back in school, at Chicago State University, hoping to graduate in (2023) with an M.S.W. degree. My plan is to become a better Counselor (for others) exactly as you have been for me. Thanks, in advance, for sending me your best wishes. Until next time (Pete): Take care.
With love,
Nathan Jernigan, B.S., M.A., M.Div., D.Min.

Dear Pete: Just a note to say hello, at the invitation of your family, and to provide an update of my activities since 2011. I certainly miss you greatly but know that you deserve the peaceful rest you now possess.
Update:
1. Thanks, Pete for helping me, beginning in 1970 to value the importance of education, as my tutor/education director at the former Old Town Chicago Boys and Girls Club near the former Jane Addams public housing site. Since 2011, I’ve received another graduate degree after taking many classes at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago; Chicago Theological Seminary; McCormick Theological Seminary; and Chicago State University.
2. Thanks, Pete for helping me, in my childhood years, to see the great difference that a trained-professional at the community-based level can make in the life of one person at a time. Since 2011, I’ve placed myself in such settings that remind me of your concern for all humans, named: Old St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church-South Loop; Augustana Lutheran Church-Hyde Park; and Ravenswood UCC.
3. Thanks, Pete for helping me to pass my academic classes from grade school via college, so that I could receive credentials and employment options. Since 2011, I’ve been employed at several sites, one being the Catholic Charities USA, which serves people with (physical or mental) disabilities.
Pete, I am so happy that I had the chance to be one of your many students, at the club, and will continue to share the “facts” about all of the help you gave to me during my childhood years; and the many good things, in measurable terms, that I’ve reaped in my adulthood years - due to your reliable support.
With love,
Nathan Jernigan, B.S., M.Div., D. Min, M.A.

Peter Miscinski was an extraordinary individual, with a heart of gold,
We first met in 1961 at Mather High School, when I was his student in US History and later as the student council advisor.
Since graduating in 1964, we have managed to keep in touch once or twice a year, every year since that time.
Pete would always send me Hanukah and Passover cards, and I would send him Omaha Steaks at Christmas.
We would talk on the phone several times a year about the Cubs and other sport teams, as well as about the current political situation.
Occasionally, we would met for lunch and members of my family, including my oldest daughter, got to met him as well.
Despite his multiple medical issues, he never complained and remained cautiously upbeat.
It was extraordinary life experience to have a 50 year relationship with a teacher and human being whom you admired and with whom you felt very connected.
I will always remember Pete for the wonderful person he was.
May his family and friends find peace in the wonderful memories he created

Mr Miscinski was so thoughtful, always sending Passover and Chanukah cards to my parents, Abraham and Jannett Fink. When my dad passed in August, I tried to get in touch with him; when I could not, I hoped we would talk again at the holiday, as Mr Miscinski and I spoke awhile last April. May the family be blessed with all the wonderful memories.

I worked in the tutoring program at the Boys' Club as a student, and Pete was a hero to me; I learned from his selfless example. I will miss him.

Mather High School's Class of 1964 and 33 others owe Mr. Miscinski a considerable debt. He took his job seriously and made all of us better because of it.

I'll never forget Mr. Miscinski's US History class during my Junior year at Mather HS including the time he brought his little son to school with him just before Xmas break and they wore matching father and son sportscoats. RIP, Mr. Miscinski.

Mr. Peter John Miscinski, Jr.-
I will always remain most grateful for everything you shared with me,
via words of advice and gifts in support.
You've been there for me since 1970, when my mother brought me
to you at the Old Town Boy's Club, on Taylor St. to be my mentor.
Since then, with your help, I have graduated from Grade-school,
High-school, College,and Graduate school(with a master's and
doctorate).
I will never forget you and will seek to share the kindness, that you
gave to me and others' of the Club near Jane Adams Public-housing,
as often as I can afford.
Pete , I love you and honor you (as well as your family), very much!
With Gratitude,
Rev. Nathan Earl Jernigan, D.Min.
