My sincerest and deepest sympathy go out to the Family of Dr. Peter Economou. Dr. Economou was my doctor for 40 years. As a young girl I admired him greatly. As an adult, with children and grandchildren of my own, I realized that he was incomparable both as a doctor and a compassionate man. He surely has no equal in the medical world. He was a man with infinite patience and eternal kindness. He got me through some of the worst times of my life, including cancer. He will forever be remembered in my prayers.

For my family, this is a great loss. We were so fortunate to have him as a relative, friend, and Doctor. Personally, I could never repay his kindness, genuine concern and his unconditional friendship.I can never remember a time he was'nt available to any of "us".When he and Helen asked if they could christen our daughter,it was an honor. Together they were and are the greatest Godparents a child could have. For all that he had done, he never asked for anything in return. It was my honor to atttend his memorial service and escort him on his final journey. May his memory be eternal.

Dearest Dr. Economou...the greatest doctor I will ever know. I have had the great fortune of knowing you for over 20 years. You successfully treated my family and friends over and over. My greatest hope is that the doctors around you learned from you. You listened to us and patiently asked questions before you guided us. You always believed that we ourselves knew what we needed...to heal.
You leave a great legacy in the world of medicine. I will miss you more than I can say. You have been a very special and close friend. My respect and prayers will continue to be with you everyday. Your love of life will always be my guide...My love to you!

What a fantastic and elegant man! A gentleman, a scholar, and a truly good person. You helped so many in your compasionate and patient bedside manner. You were my mentor and taught me lessons on medicine as well as life. I know that medicine was your life and your life was medicine, and for this we all are grateful. I am honored to be able to celebrate your life. I'll miss you Peter! My condolences to your family.

Peter was known as the doctor all other doctors would want to go to. He had many patients and he knew them all intimately. He achieved what we all dream about, he was very well respected and he loved his work. Chicago and the medical profession has lost a great man.

I am writing to Dr. Economou's family to express my sorrow at his passing. Many years ago (1964) my father was treated by Dr. Economou as a 48 year old cancer patient. I vividly remember Dr. Economou's kindness and compassion at a very difficult time for our family. Unfortunately, my father didn't have mcuh time after that, but I am confident that Dr. Economou touched the lives of many more patients in his career. May you take comfort in this and know that he did indeed make a difference in many people's lives.
God bless you.
Sincerely,
Richard Jaffe
