Dear Barbara and Family, Peter was my "Dutch Uncle" and the smartest man I have ever known. I have had the distinct priviledge to call him my friend for 34yrs. He was my first boss and my mentor in many ways through out all these many years. There is great sorrow in my heart at this loss.

I WAS SORRY TO LEARN OF PETE'S DEATH. WE WORKED TOGETHER ON THE SUN-TIMES MANY YEARS AGO AND HE WAS VERY HELPFUL TO ME. LIKE HIS FATHER BEFORE HIM, HE WAS A TOP NOTCH NEWSPAPERMAN.

Barbara, I don't know if you remember me but I used to work at the Bank (retired a year ago). I wanted to express my sincere condolences on the death of your husband; I'm so sorry for your loss.
That was a wonderful article about him in the Tribune today.
Sincerely, Carol McGarry
