Father Pat was my mentor and a very dear friend of mine, I always thought we were so lucky to have him as our theology teacher. He was understanding, very honest, but most importantly, he could show us that he cared when we thought no one else ever did.
I attribute my high school diploma to him, because without him, I would have never made it through. He kept my head up and hopes high- and was always smiling along the way. I will keep him in my prayers, and I will miss him very dearly, I only hope that he will continue to guide me from above.

Fr. Murphy left us with many fond memories. In 1991, Fr. Murphy came to St. Petronille in Glen Ellyn to perform the wedding ceremonies of my best friend, Amy, and I. Fr. Murphy left us with smiles and that contagious laugh. He will be missed by many. Thanks for the memories.
I can picture Muprh sitting around with God and all his angels telling jokes and having a good time.

I only knew Fr. Murphy for a short time, when he was Pastor of St.Rita Parish in Chicago, and I was a first year,44year old 5Th grade teacher in the parish school. He was a great roll model with his tough love approach toward children. He was a teachers teacher and always supported our efforts.I will think fondly of him often, and keep him in my prayers.

Well where to start, we couldn't find a priest in 1983 to marry us. So we were lucky to meet Father Patrick Murphy, who married us at
St. John of God Parish at 52nd & Throop, Chicago, IL
We got married August 20, 1983. It was a mass you will never forget, he made you Laugh and Cry; He Spoke Loudly and Sang Strong. There were so many people at our Wedding Mass that Father Murphy ran out of Communion, but luckily he did get extra to give out.

2 months later we couldn't find a priest to give my Mother Last Rites, but one call away was Father Murphy again, and he came and my mother passed away the next day.

Along our path in life Father Murphy kept in touch with us mostly at Christmas and it was great to hear from him every year.

Well, we will be married 25 years this August 20, 2008, and we were hoping that Father Murphy would have been at another Mass to renew our Vows, but he will be there watching over us from Above.

This is what my husband and I will remember most. Father Murphy meet with us before our Wedding Day and told us remember there is a EBB and a TIDE. So when things go Bad and Good we will always remember Father Patrick Murphy's words of Wisdom.

It's the EBB and the TIDE.

Thank you Father Murphy for EVERYTHING!!!
WE WILL MISS YOU VERY VERY MUCH!!!

The first Augustinian I met when I entered Tolentine in 1970 was Murph. It was he who bestowed on me my nickname, it was the only Polish word he claimed he knew. To those who loved Murph especially his family, confrers and friends we have all suffered a great loss. May God bless Pat with His Peace.

Fr. Pat,

I remember with fondness the many laughs we had together (and with so many other great Principals within the Chicago Archdiocese), and I still can't believe you are/were 10 years my junior! You were always so....er... so "mature." May you now enjoy the warm embrace of the God you served so well here in this "Valley of tears"...from laughter, of course!
