I have just learned about the passing of Mr. Flynn. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Mr Flynn was a "cool" teacher. I was inspired by him. I have been a teacher for 21 years. I have a wonderful and fulfilling career thanks to my great teachers at Niles West like Mr. Flynn. May you rest in peace.

I just learn of Mr. Flynn's death today. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of his family. I have many fond memories of Mr. Flynn as my english teacher. He was a very funny guy and also a great teacher. He always took each of his students and made them want to succeed. If it wasn't for Mr. Flynn I probably would have never made it through high school. He will be greatly missed.

I knew Pat from my teen years at Niles West High School, then later in life as his Veterinarian. He was one of the "good guys". I was just told of his death yesterday. I feel a void today. I will miss his charming smile and demeanor. May he rest in peace with all of the lords creatures!

Pat will be missed for all that he was...his sense of humor, his joy in teaching, his frienship to students and, yes, even his awful bowling! Too young, too soon, and for us, too sad. May God bless his family and bring you comfort in your memories. Dottie Fugiel and Jerry Smith

What can I say about Pat? He has been my friend for 15 years. He was someone I could always talk to about anything and share a laugh. He was kind, fun loving and had a heart of gold.
We did so many fun and goofy things together - always getting there in that black Caddy of his.
There was dinner next to the Christmas tree in the Walnut Room the last Christmas it was still Marshall Fields, dinner at Berghoff's just before it closed with our buddies Lisa Renee, Laurie and Joyce, the Niles West Bowling League at the infamous Skokie Lanes, dinner at Lawry's at Christmas listening to our friend Roger and his group sing Christmas carols, the balloon ride that almost happened, my 60th birthday in October, celebrating his 64th birthday in November at the Kit Kat Klub, and who can ever forget our day with Jerry Springer. Yup, that was my friend Pat - always ready to have fun and laugh. That's one of the things I will miss most - laughing with Pat.
I miss him terribly but my memories of him will ALWAYS make me smile.
Good-bye Flynnie.

Mr. Flynn was my homeroom teacher and for a year he was my swim coach. I remember him having so much life and anyone who knew him also knew his sense of humor. He was a kind man who touched my life deeply. I never got to tell him how much he meant to me or how he has forever changed my life.. I hope in hopes that he knows.

Mr. Flynn, as I'll always know him, was one of the most original and inspirational teachers I've ever had. He was also one of the best. I will always rememer him, partly for helping a scared freshman find his way through high school, but also because he showed me a new way to look at literature and writing. He was a very nice and very smart teacher. It's a shame that no more students will be able to experience a class taught by Mr. Flynn. My deepest sympaties to his family and friends.

My deepest sympathy to all who knew Pat. I will forever remember the way Pat never took life too seriously and his off colored sense of humor. We shared many laughs and I will miss him.

To the family of Mr. Flynn
I was a student of Mr. Flynn my senior year, 1982. He was my English teacher, and my very favorite teacher I ever had at Niles West. I remember we had to read a play by Shakespeare that year, and no one wanted to read it, because it was too boring. Mr. Flynn made it the MOST fun play ever, by bringing in a cassette tape with the play on it! Every day in class we listened to the tape and read along in our Shakespeare books. As the story went along, Mr. Flynn would do the sound effects himself, such as making footsteps with his feet under the desk, or yelling when someone yelled in the play. It was HILARIOUS! His was the only class I looked forward to each day my senior year! He was truly a funny, remarkable teacher, who insisted on making the material he taught interesting to his students. I remember whenever he lost our papers or tests, he would tell us he had been at the Glenview Inn last night, and couldn't be held responsible for the papers! He was hilarious! I am truly sorry for your loss, as it is a loss to ALL who ever knew him. Whenever I think back to my high school years, Mr. Flynn is the first teacher that comes to mind. I will always fondly remember him. He made a difference in my life.
Sincerely,
Cindy (Gaertner) Kingery
