I just learned of Pat's passing. What a gentle giant Pat was. I spent years as his neighbor at Hammond Marina. Pat was always willing to help out. The thing I admired the most about Pat was his politeness. Pat always had a cheerful greeting to those that passed by on the dock. With all the demands and stress so many of those that serve and protect us go through on a daily basis, Pat remained helpful and courteous. He was admired when he served on Marine Unit 1 and as a Detective for the City of Chicago. I will remember Pat most as a gentleman. God bless you Pat. May you rest in peace

Throughout a person's life journey, many people are met, but it isn't very often that one meets one of the good guys. A person who is truly kind and caring, someone who is respectful and genuine, someone who is eager to hear about how you are doing, and excited to share a good story. This is the kind of person who is proud of who he is, but also shows gratitude, love and respect for the support of a wonderful family. No one loved his family more than Patrick Finucane. The way he spoke about his parents was with such love and pride, and even though our lives here are sad for the loss of our friend, Pat has reunited with his loving parents, and heaven got an upgrade.

Dear Bill, Meggie, Mary and Jim -
I am so sorry to hear the sad news about your dear brother Pat. Though it's been many years since I've seen or spoken with him, I recall him as a loving brother and as a man who was truly happy and proud to be a member of the CPD. Our wish for you is that as the days and weeks begin to pass, you will all find comfort and consolation - and even laughter - in the many fond memories you all hold in your hearts.

I will always have fond memories of Pat. He was one of my best friends growing up and one of the most creative and intelligent and witty characters of my life. Pat's sense of humor was disarming. He'd come up with angles on things that you'd be scratching your head wondering where that came from, as you just laughed yourself sore. He was one of the most well-read guys to come out of Bridgeport, I'd lay odds. The first time I ever heard the word "accoutrement" it was uttered by Pat! I remember playing football with him, playing GI Joe on his living room floor, going to the corner tavern and buying quarts of cherry soda and sitting on the front porch listening to baseball games in the summer with him. My life is better to have known Pat Finucane, and I pray I see him again on the other side. God bless you, Pat, and everyone you left behind. You were a dear friend and I will always, always remember you!

Patrick, i am at a loss for words, could you believe that? Oh how i looked forward to walking out of work as you were walking in cuz i knew i was driving home with a smile on my face. Since moving to Cental tho, i did not have that same opportunity so the few times we would run into it other we seemed to talk for hours! The best times i had were when i was doing my rotation and you taught me the ropes, what fun we had. I could go on and on, but i dont want to flood the place. You are the best of the best! Never without a smile and never a bad word about anyone. God Speed my friend, always in my heart and forever in my thoughts! My family is getting tired of hearing me say "rootin tootin Pat Finucane". I feel the Heavens are so much brighter with you there!

Pat was a pleasure to be around and in CPD terms, he was 'a lot of copper.' We miss his police dedication and competence, his heart and soul, his humor, his goodness, his friendship. I picture him standing before his Creator and God, smiling, saying, "Well done, my beloved son...very well done." Now he knows His presence and His peace forever, but he leaves a terrible empty spot in Chicago. Rest in peace, pal.
