I will truly remember our "Momma Ora". She was an educator until the end, and taught me about seeing the light - the internal drive to always do what is right.

Thank you, Mrs. Higgins for being there when I needed you the most. Thank you for awarding hundreds of scholarships to needy students. Thank you for becoming my legal guardian when I was 16 and setting me back on the right course. Last night, I ran across one of your old quotes: "We are helped by helping others. If we give, we always get.Seeing others as our brother's and sisters is life safest bet. If we give what folks need, it will pay us in the end and we just can't help succeeding in the game of life my friend." But, it was your favorite poem, "May I go? tht brought the tears rushing.

MAY I GO

May I go now? Do you think the time is right? May I say goodbye to pain filled days and endless nights? I've lived my life and done my best an example I tried to be. So can I take that step beyond and set my spirit free?

I didn't want to go at first. I fought with all my might. But something seems to draw me now to a warm and loving light.

I want to go. I really do. It's difficult to say. But I will try as best I can to live just one more day.

To give you time to care for me and share your love and fears. I'll want to be far, I promise that, and hope you'll always know my spirit will be close to you wherever you may go.

Thank you so much for loving me. You know I love you too. That's why it's hard to say goodbye and end this life with you.

So hold me now, just one more time and let me hear you say because you care so much for me you'll let me go today."

I thought I saw her face today
In the sparkle of the morning sun.

I thought I heard her voice today

MY Dearest Aunt Ora, I will Charish, forever, the time I spent with you, and Daddy Higgins while I was in High School. My life lesson from you was."Always hold your head up high, and be the best that you can be in whatever path you choose. Love, and will miss you. Saundra.....

I will always be grateful to Mrs Higgins and her foundation for awarding my twin sons each scholarships. As a single parent I needed all the assistance I could obtain. She will always have a special place in my family's heart. Our sincere sympathy to the family. She left a great legacy and you are blessed as we all are because of her vision.

Mrs. Higgins was blessed with 101 years of special mightiness.(Psalms 90:10) May your hearts be filled with joyful memories of times spent as you remember a life well lived, and may the hearer of prayer bring you strength and peace in your time of sorrow.

Love this woman like my own mother. She was a gift to humankind--genuine, beautiful, brilliant and a true trail blazer. I learned so much from her and she impacted my family greatly. Heaven has a new jewel among angels. Praying for you, family.
