Norbert Wesolowski Obituary

He was my algebra teacher in '77 and taught algebra, responsibility, common sense, school spirit and more all with a sense of humor and realism that sticks with me today. He was one of a kind and he cared about us. All my best to his family.

Today is April 28, 2024, and 3 years have passed since Weso's death. That said: today is the first day I have learned of his passing. I graduated from Lake Park in 1960 (1st class that went 4 years) and I always remember Weso teaching me Algebra which I still use on a daily basis in my role as an insurance agent. (81 years old but still work as I love what I do!) Of more import: Weso was my high school baseball coach and I learned alot from him. Think of Uncle Norb often and always remember him as one of the greatest teachers/coaches I ever had. I played college baseball (thanks to alot to what I learned from Weso) and my son went to college on a baseball scholarship thanks to a great deal of knowledge Weso taught me which I passed along to my son. Weso was one of a kind and I am blessed to have known him. It is my hope someone in his family will someday see this message and know how much he was appreciated! Steve Whipple LP Class of 60

Mr. W was my algebra teacher at Lake Park, and what a great teacher he was! They don't make teachers like him anymore. Rest in peace and hope to meet again in Heaven!

Freshman math class. I learned more than math. His humor and visions of positivity. He had so many friends-classmates and I looked up to him.. I´m still short lol. He encouraged us to do our best, treat people fairly and not to hold grudges. He showed us math was in everything we do. Learn or be handicapped in everything we do. Mr Lyon in keeneyville must have been good friends. Respect begat respect in his class. He made algebra easy to learn. He spoke of his wife often. I always wanted a relationship like that. Weso was my geometry teacher my sophomore year. I was in the 2nd graduating class 1959. I really liked being in his class. He was a good teacher and liked by everyone. My deepest sympathy to the family.

If Ernie Banks was Mr. Chicago Cubs, Weso was Mr. Lake Park Lancer. He hosted the homecoming pep assembly from my start at LP until he retired. Always a smile and positive attitude toward staff and especially students. Everyone wanted to be in his Algebra class!! He would advise new staff members to leave their problems in their cars in the parking lot. When he retired no one replaced him. So happy he was able to enjoy a long life and retirement. Whether it was trying to pick winners with him at the track, trying to outfox him in a card game, or simply chatting with him on our daily rides together to and from school, even during the 1967 snow storm, Wes was always a character with many a tall story to tell.

Weso was a character! Always had a joke or a great story ! He was afunny man..always had a smile on his face.I grew up with the LP FACULTY.my Dad mr.ElliottI.A.DEPT.HEAD..I PLAYED BASEBALL FOR HIM.We had a blast ! I graduated from LPHS in 1966. "Uncle Norby" was one of my favorite teachers and apparently I am not alone. How amazing is it that no matter when we had him as a teacher, we all felt the same way about him. I believe he truly loved teaching and it showed. This world needs more people like him.

My condolences to his family during this time. Mr. Wesolowski (Weso) touched so many life's with his infectious positive nature. I only knew him for a short time when he was my teacher and coach at LPHS.We are all better people today because of his influence. May this be a source of some solace during this time. class of '72'

I was lucky to have had Mr. Wesolowski as my math teacher at Lake Park. He was a great teacher and loved by many. May God's perpetual light shine upon him.

Ah Weso - my first math teacher at LPHS in 1976. He taught me to look at things a different way and his class was one I looked forward to everyday: productive and fun! Thanks to Wez and his math department colleagues at LPHS I followed their path and spent 35 years as a math teacher/professor. Thanks Weso for all the lessons learned and for your loving care.

Norbie was the best, always smiling and willing to help you love his classes. His funny stories in school and at our class reunions were awesome. He was one of the favorites from the 1958 class! RIP in peace Norbie, your family is in my prayers Margie Olofson Jasinski

He was my math teacher, he made me laugh everyday. Sending my prayers to the wesolowski family. He was my favorite teacher by far.

He was my algebra teacher at Lake Park high school. I just loved him. He made me smile every day. He was such a great teacher. I still remember him after all these years. I graduated in 1983. I ended up becoming a teacher. I´m very sorry for your loss.

I hated algebra and he was the only teacher who believed I could do it. He inspired so many. It was a pleasure to know him.

Mr. Wesolowski was my favorite teacher at Lake Park (1965). I was so shy in HS and timid. He made me love math and have self confidence. He was loved by so many students.

Mr. Wesolowski was my all time favorite teacher and I was his clerical assistant (class of 1966). He had a great gift to make learning Algebra fun. I still remember many of his funny sayings and quote him to this day. My prayers are for peace and strength for his family.

Weso was an energetic and optimistic teacher who helped me look on the bright side of life. I´ve always been glad I knew him.

My sincerest condolences to Mr. Wesolowski's family and all who loved this wonderful man. He was able to make math stimulating and challenging for his college-bound students and at the same time non-threatening and achievable to those not blessed with a math aptitude. And he turned me into a Chicago Blackhawks fan for life!

I am so sorry for your loss! I have the greatest memories of your Dad. He was the best teacher at Lake Park. Love being in his class. Later as a upper class I would always visit him and drive him to the train station so he could go home for the night. He is the best memory I have of Lake Park. Weso will be missed dearly. Mr. Wesolowski will be fondly remembered. He was a wonderful teacher and a great personality. Weso had an outstanding sense of humor. May he rest in peace.

My heart goes out to everyone in Mr. Wesolowski´s family. Like many here, I was one of his students. I hope he knew how much he touched each and everyone of us. Not only was he a great teacher, he was the best teacher I ever had. He has left a wonderful legacy.

My all time favorite teacher. I talk about him in the majority of all my courses I taught and will continue to teach. He made me laugh more than any teacher I ever had. My heart goes out to his entire family. RIP Mr. Weso!!! Sad day.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with 'Weso' at Lake Park and have many great memories. He was the true spirit of Lake Park!

Dear family--Your dad/grandpa was my math teacher at Lake Park (I was Class of 1966). I could not have asked for a kinder, more attentive teacher. He was also exemplary when it came to school loyalty and encouraging all of us to do our best. That he had 90 years of life is a blessing, and I hope they were all good years. God bless you.

Norb was a great friend and mentor to me and many others. He always had great stories and a smile for everyone.

Norbert was the spirit face of Lake Park High School while he was there teaching and coaching. His energy, enthusiasm and love for the school and community was infectious.
Norb was what teachers should emulate. He loved the students and was a shining example of a generous and caring human being. Rest In Peace Norb. It was an honor to have taught with you.
