Dear Ann ...

Loss and grief. I'm finding that these are two of the hardest feelings you will ever encounter. Unfortunately, they are the price we pay for love.

Barb would want to send her condolences, and I send mine as well.

We always loved this sentiment, and perhaps it will help you, as it helps me:

Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.
- Eskimo Proverb

I wish you love and strength in the difficult times ahead...

To the Murphy family:

We are very sorry that we are unable to attend the wake this evening, but we will attend the funeral Mass for Nora tomorrow. I enjoyed so much working with Nora over the years and serving under her when I was on the Board of Directors of the IAHC and she was president. Every Christmas, she always saved some of her delicious brown bread at the Christmas breakfast for us.

She was a delightful lady and we will miss her greatly...she is in our prayers and Masses...God bless you all. We will be mailng a donation in her memory to the IAHC.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Nora's family. It was my privilege to have Nora as my Vice President of the Golden Age Club of St. John Brebeuf during my term of office. As a result I got to know your mother quite well. She was a very giving person. To this I could add many adjectives, but they would fall short to describe her wonderful nature. I remember her with fondness and will pray for her each year because she departed this world on my birthday. Our prayers are with the family.

To Ann, Hugh, Kathleen, Mary, Brian & Patrick--

My late father John McGlynn and your mother were first cousins (I believe each of their mothers were Malloys?)and they lived next door to each other for a time in the 1950s. I barely remembered your mother from my childhood (I was about four when we moved away) but my parents always spoke highly of her, and I had the great pleasure of speaking at length with her, once about six years ago and the other time only a few weeks ago. News of her death came as a shock to me, because we had planned to meet in person when she was feeling better. I am so sorry for your loss and also sad about the missed opportunity to get to know your mother better, and perhaps to get to know all of you.

My thoughts are with you, and I hope that you are a comfort to each other. Unfortunately, I will be unable to come to the visitation or services because I am in New York for the weekend visiting my daughter, but please know that I will be saying a prayer for your mom and for all of you.

Your second cousin, Pat
