Noble Ziglar Obituary

Noble Lee Ziglar, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, surrounded by his family.

He was born July 11, 1925, in Coffee County, Ala., and lived in Panama City, Fla., most of his adult life. Noble served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1963. He retired as a chief boatswain's mate from the Mine Defense Lab in Bay County. In 1961, as skipper of the last remaining PT boat, Noble and his crew ran the boat from Panama City to Washington, D.C., where it was presented in President John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Parade. The PT boat was featured as a repre-sentation of the boat Kennedy served on, PT109. After retiring from the Navy, Noble worked at the Naval Coastal Systems for 24 years, retiring in 1986.

He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Elizabeth Ziglar; and sister, Claudia Smith. Survivors include his wife, and the love of his life for 58 years, Janie Dell Ziglar; daughter, Belva Eddins and husband, Johnny; son, Anthony Dale Ziglar and friend, Joni; grand-sons, Brian Eddins and wife, Angie, Keith Eddins, Wesley Eddins and wife, Jennifer, Anthony Ziglar and friend, Andrea, and Matthew Ziglar; granddaughter, Lauren Deas and husband, Josh; brother, Robert Paul Ziglar of Grants Pass, Ore.; and great-grandsons, Thomas and Jacob Eddins. Noble also left behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating and full military honors offered by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at the funeral home. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Brian Eddins, Wesley Eddins, Anthony Ziglar, Matthew Ziglar, Josh Deas and Sonny Fra-zier. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Eddins, Ted Kozolowski, James Lawrence, Bubba Hill, Ashley Stuckey, Grady Collier, Corky Clark, all members of the Chick-Fil-A Breakfast Crew, St. Andrews Masonic Lodge 212 and the West Side Men's Club.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice or the Building Fund at Hiland Park Baptist Church. The family will be at 8813 Creek Run Road, Youngstown, Fla.
