Nick Russo Obituary

I just heard of Nick's passing. I saw him many times st Jilly's on my visits to Chicago on business and to see my daughter a graduate of Loyola. He always remembered as Phoenix. He was one of the best musicians and a devoted family man. I know he will be missed. I have two of his CD's so I will always be able to enjoy his special touch he added to a song.

Dear Dear Edie,
We just learned of your great loss and are heart broken. As you know, he always sang "our song" (MORE) for us when he saw us...on our wedding night, every anniversary, every Valentine's, all the New Year's Eve's we spent together at Jilly's and whenever we saw him .... in Naperville or in Rosewood.

I was very sad to learn of his passing. I was very blessed to have talked with him and share memories of my mom and his dad. They were twins!! Although our time was short he was truly as great as everyone told me and his music was one of a kind!! So sorry to hear about Nick's passing. He performed and entertained so many times at our restaurant Leonado's La Gondola in
Arlington Heights. He was such a wonderful

I ONLY KNEW NICK AS NICKY...WE GREW UP TOGETHER ON ADDISON ST. AND WENT TO SCHOOL AT ST, VIATOR'S GRAMMAR SCHOOL. ONE DAY IN GRAMMAR SCHOOL IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER I TOOK HIS HAT OFF HIS HEAD AND THREW IT IN THE MIDDLE OF ADDISON ST. ONLY TO WATCH A BUS RUN OVER IT...THE NEXT DAY NICKY WAS LAYING IN WAIT...HIDING BEHIND A FENCE HE JUMPED ME AND I DISAPPEARED IN THE CEMENT SIDEWALK, OUR PARENTS WERE FRIENDS MY PARENTS LOVE NICK SR. AND THERESA, WE WERE MORE THAN FRIENDS...BROTHERS IN SO MANY WAYS. FOLLOWED HIS MUSICAL CAREER, BUT TO ME HE WAS JUST MY BUDDY NICKY FROM GRAMMAR SCHOOL. My heartfelt sympathy extends to the entire Russo Family on the loss of a great husband, father, grandfather, uncle, or friend. I feel honored, to have seen Nick perform a little over a month ago at the Charhouse. My father (Tony Gags), was a long time friend and spoke very highly of Mr. Russo. May the angels guide his soul through the gates of heaven. Where he shall rest in peace for all eternity...Amen

I didn't know Mr. Russo personally but many members of my audience did,and speak of Him gracefully.
He was my predecessor and example of where i may excel in this buisness.
I honor him by this submission and I will be at the funeral .

A Great loss for Nick's Family, Chicago and all who were touched by the amazing Nick Russo. None of us are perfect but Nick came as close as I have seen to The Consummate Showman...."A tough Act to Follow" in a slowly by gotten era....We will miss you Nick.

Hi Edie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I wanted to pay my respects in person but I'm not feeling well. Nothing serious just a bad cold or possibly allergies. Pat sends her sympathies and we will keep you, your children and grandchildren in our prayers. May Nick Rest in Peace.

I met Nick 20 years ago through our mutual friend, Nick Gironda. I saw him for the first time at Jilly's Bar. To say I was "Blown Away by Nick's musicianship on the piano would be an understatement.
Nick's ability and Hook on the Ivories was un-paralleled! Never, have I heard such talent on the black and white's and am certain I never will again. Although I saw Nick perform dozens of times over the years, my regret is that I did not see Nick perform more often. I will cherish his cd's and will miss him greatly.
My deepest sympathies go to his lovely wife Edie and their children.

I loved Nick from the first time we meet it was an instant connection like we knew each other's soul through music we connected and we had a ball every time we did I'm certainly going to miss visiting Him and sitting in with him as often as I did he would entersduce me and say Sittin in with me tonight my buddy Gerald I think of him always and pray for him . RIP my buddy Nick

Nick was such a wonderful man. He was always so kind to me every time I would go see him at Jilly's. He was a great entertainer and person, he will be missed by so many.

It's with an immensely heavy heart that I am mourning the passing of my beloved friend. Heaven has truly received one of the best.
Edie, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire loving family. As much as we all know of the passion and love Nick had for his music; it could not compare to the love and adoration he had for his family.
Nick will continue to be loved and terribly missed.

My words cannot describe the loss of perfectionist Nick Russo . I meet Nick many years ago but came to work with me a the Red Head Piano bar some 23 years ago and continued with each other with Jilly's as as recently at The Joynt . Through the years his family became part of mine.Edie ,Nick and you where as perfect as perfect can be as loving parents and your adoring care and Love for Nick through all those years and there where some rough ones but I know you would agree the good ones where great.I can say with out a doubt that Nick was a very important part if not The most important part of my success! Nick your are simply the BEST .

Edie and family, love and prayers to all of you. Thanks for sharing your wonderful husband and father with all of us. If the world had his heart and sincerity it would be a much better place. I hope you find comfort in each other, and in time, all the wonderful memories. All you had to do is look at Nick when he spoke of his family to see how you all filled his heart.
