Petersen, Nancy
Nancy Petersen 73, passed away on October 5 2025, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Nancy was born December16, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Gertrude and Joseph Pellack. Her beginning years saw Nancy growing up in Chicago and attending St. Bridgett Grade School and St Barbs High School where she had many friends and colleagues. After getting married in July, 1976, she moved to Houston so her husband could attend university and continued her career with Blue Cross. Nancy worked as a region manager for a Blue Cross and then later with United Healthcare for more than 40 years. She was an active member at St. Justin Martyr and later attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond. Nancy enjoyed bowling, being involved with various bowling leagues and entering tournaments with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, making afghans for family and friends. She also traveled in her free time and was part of a ladies group that played cards on a regular basis. She loved to attend school functions and events with her children and later with her grandchildren watching them in sports and dance competitions. To her family she was affectionately known as "Gigi", especially by her grandchildren whom she loved spending quality time with.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Joseph and Gertrude Pellack; her inlaws Laverne Petersen and Harry G. Petersen; brothers Donald (Charlotte), and John (Grace) Pellack; nephews David Pellack and James Hagberg; along with numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her caring husband of 49 years, Harry Walter Petersen; daughter Kimberly Michelle (David Chernosky); son Kyle Matthew (Carmen Olewine); grandchildren Mia Kay Petersen and Caeden Dax Petersen, along with numerous niece's nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Nancy will be remembered for her strong and vibrant personality, quick wit, big smile and her deep affection for family and friends. Her life touched many lives and her legacy with live on in her children, grandchildren and all those who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 13, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Davis Greenlawn, located in Rosenberg. A service will take place on Tuesday October 14,2025 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Richmond.
