Latimer, Mildred Neal 93, of Peoria, Arizona, died peacefully on January 25, 2004. She was born September 24, 1910, in Roodhouse, IL. The daughter of Meda and Dee Knight Neal, Mildred graduated, as a registered nurse, from Wesley Memorial Hospital in Chicago. At Wesley she met, and later married, general surgeon Dr. Earl O. Latimer. Millie, as she was so lovingly called, and Earl, lived in Chicago and Evanston, Illinois, before moving to Sun City, Arizona in 1972. Besides her devotion to her family, Millie loved to travel. She made twelve trips to Europe and spent many August months in the Quetico-Superior canoe country of Minnesota. Millie was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Madson of Phoneix and Sandra L. Collins of Sarasota, FL; and a son, Earl O. Latimer II of Dallas, plus seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. This elegant and gracious lady will be missed by family and friends. Private services will be held in Corning, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to The Latimer Scholarship Fund, Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas, 72032.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Whether dressed in one of her lovely tailored dresses or in her fishing hat and jeans, Aunt Millie was always a lady of dignity and grace.
She will be missed by those of us who knew her and admired her.

To Nancy:
How sorry to hear of your loss. Your mother was always such a lady. Truly classy and epitomised what women were like in the 50's and 60's. I sent her notice to Mary Dickson, but not sure if she's left for Japan yet or not. I lost my mother 5 years ago and a day doesn't go by yet that I wish she were still here. I hope your mother didn't suffer any illness. Would love to hear from you. Hope all is well.
