Miguel Miramontes Obituary

Miramontes, Miguel C. "Mike" Age 93, son of Refugio Miramontes and Francisca Canela, passed away on March 18 surrounded by his loving children. He was born on a ranch in San Jose, Jalisco, Mexico and lived most of his life in Chicago. He was a hard-working determined man who lived the American Dream and obtained his goal of becoming a U.S. citizen. Mike worked 35 years at US Steel as a crane operator. He enjoyed a second career of retirement for 31 years, during which he traveled, danced, gardened, and took care of his building that was a symbol of his achievements. Mike is survived by his children, Michelle (Ronald) Walters, Maria (Ray Broderdorf) Miramontes, and David Miramontes; his grandchildren, David Miramontes, Jennifer (Brad) Sonichsen, Amy (Marc) Boomsma, Ashley (Charles) Herman, Marisa Broderdorf, Erica and Lana Miramontes; his brother, Ruben (Connie) Miramontes; his sister, Celia (Paul) Madera; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Tillie Reize. Bernadine Derbas was his dearest companion. Funeral Friday 9:00am from FORAN FUNERAL HOME 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th St. just west of Harlem), Summit, IL to St. Symphorosa Church, 62nd and Austin. Mass 9:30am. Interment Resurrection Cemetery 7201 S. Archer Rd. Justice, IL.
