Mrs. Shemash,
DeAnn, myself and the boys were deeply saddened to hear of Mike's passing. While the boys were still struggling with the truths surrounding the news, it did give us pause to reflect on a few of our favorite Mr. Shemash stories. Some that stood out were Nathan getting a new pair of cowboy boots and a leather jacket and "having" to go outside and show Mr. Shemash his new attire. It was during the middle of the summer and was close to ninety. After about 10 minutes of baking in the sun with a leather jacket and boots on, Nathan took them off. When I asked him what Mr. Shemash thought of his new stuff, he told me Mr. Shemash wasn't outside so he would wait until it was colder and show him.
Another time Nathan had received a flannel shirt for a Christmas present. He opened the present and tried the shirt on. Upon seeing himself in the mirror he exclaimed, "Look, I have a Mr. Shemash shirt."
There were many more stories like this; these were just two of my favorites. It gave DeAnn and me cause to reflect on how valuable a part of the boys life you and Mike have been. While I am saddened by the news of Mike's departure, I am grateful for the time we were able to spend with him. I am supremely confident that he is in a better place. As I am equally certain, that we are better people for having known him.
When the mood stirs you, please reply to the e-mail address so that I might update you with the boys (and girls) progress.
As always, with love,
Mark, DeAnn, Cameron, Nathan, Jeremy, Sydney, and Kendall Roney

I wish I could hug the whole Shemash family right now to offer the little comfort that can come at a time like this. Our hearts and souls are filled with sorrow at your loss.
I guess the one consolation I can find is that he's with so many of his old friends right now watching over the rest of us and he is at peace. That is one of the thoughts that got all the McKendricks through our time of pain and sorrow.
I will always remember him with a smile on this face and the warmth of his greeting. So many years of good times and so many laughs. One of his greatest assets was to always be able to make you smile.
Know that we are here for you whenever you might need us. We miss you and love you all.

Dear Mrs. Shemash, Laura, Cathy, Mike, Cheryl and the whole family:
Words cannot adequately express how sorry I am for your loss or how much I will miss uncle Mike aka Mr. Shemash (I could never call him Mike). I am so happy that I was able to spend some time with him last year out in Florida. He always made me laugh and I always loved being around his dramatic and passionate energy. I used to love the way he described walking along the beach and how beautiful it is and how much he loved it.
It always warmed my heart to hear him tell stories about the good times him and my Dad had together and how they laughed and fought and laughed again. How can we forget the bike riding denture story? I prayed to my Dad to show him the ropes up there. I'm sure they are laughing together again.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I love you all so much and wish I could be out there to give you all a big hug and kiss. Uncle Mike will be missed very much.

Laura, Mrs. Boomstead, Cathy and Mike (and family),
On behalf of the Hurtado and Jaeger families, we are so saddened by the news of your dad's passing. I could not believe my eyes when I was reading the paper this morning. Mr. Boomstead will certainly be missed by me and so many that love him. I know that the pain of losing a loved one does start to heal with time. Lean on each other during this tough time and know that we are all praying for all of you.
I am certain that my mom was happy to see her buddy come up. Can you imagine what they are talking about now?
All our love, Mary Ellen, Armando, and Alexander Hurtado as well as the entire Jaeger family
