Michael Mijatovich Obituary

To Mike's family - my deepest condolences to you all in this time of grief. I'm only sorry i could not be there to pay my respects. Mike truly was a great guy - I enjoyed every moment I had with him in our 4 years at Iowa. Just last year, he pulled over to come say hi as I was walking down the street, simply just to catch up - not many people would and I'll never forget it.

I am very sorry for your loss and I know there are no words to express what you're family is going through. When I went to edgebrook school I hung out with mike and my older brother and their friends on a daily basis and remember all the pick up games of baseball and basketball we would play either at edgebrook or the train park. He was always the best at sports and I looked up to him, he was a good kid. I was able to run into mike a couple years ago and we had a great conversation now as adults. That was the last time I saw him and I am thankful to have this memory. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, and I know the memories of mike will give you strength and he will always be in your hearts.

Dick, Beverly and Anna, Words can't express our sadness over the news of your loss of Michael. We remember when our son Tom went to pre-school with Mike. During play time, both of them wanted to wear the police hat from the costume corner, but there was only one. They were men of honor; whoever got to school first got the hat, no complaints. Tom hurried us up to get to school many mornings so he could get the hat first, but that didn't always work out! It was so wonderful to re-connect with your family when Michael and Tom played together on the Edgebrook Sauganash Baseball League. Our thoughts and prayers are with you over this terrible heartbreak. May the wonderful memories of your great son comfort your hearts. I'll never forget first meeting Mike during Edgebrook-Saug baseball. Mr Sanchez asked me to sub and play on the all boys team and Mike always thought it was so cool that I was better than my brother at sports. The reason I went to Timmys games was because of how cute Mike was! I loved the friendship Tim and Mike had and every time I saw him he acted and treated me as if we were just as close. And of course always reminding me that I was the best girl in baseball. I am honored to know such a beautiful person inside and out. He will be greatly missed and the way he made others feel will last forever.

Seems like only yesterday when Mike was "king of the hill" in the Edgebrook-Sauganash Littke League. When he had his curveball working and his fastball dominating, there was not a team in the league that could touch him. Outside of the league, he was just a great kid -- always goofing around and fun-loving! At that time, Mike was one of my son's best buddies and always one of my favorites out of all Jimmy's friends. In my heart, he will always remain forever young. My deepest condolences to the Mijatovich family.
