Machel, Michael, formerly of LaGrange and Chicago, WWII Army Veteran and recipient of The Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Beloved father of Aaron Lee Finley, Loretta (Stephen) Kennedy, Erwin (Terri), Ronald (Kaye), and Margaret, loving grandfather of Brian and Kenny Finley, Deanna (Ignacio) Lopez, Melissa (Aaron) Campbell, Jenny (Andy) Ozley, Emily (Milan) Patel, Stephanie Kennedy, Jennifer Machel and the late Richie Machel, dear great grandfather of six, fond brother of the late Mary Promis, Mildred and Sue, dear uncle of many. Visitation 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St., Countryside. Prayers 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Funeral Home to St. Symphorosa Church, 6135 S. Austin Ave., Chicago for funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment Mt. Vernon Memorial Estates, Lemont. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hines V.A. Hospital, GPF 1041, P.O. box 5000, Hines, IL, 60141, appreciated. I am truly sorry for the loss of this wonderful man. I never had the privilege of meeting him, but from the stories I heard he was amazing and truly loved.

My grandpa was a very great and special man. He taught my sister and I how to fly a kite and he also made the BEST spaghetti ever!! I have so many memories and so much more that I could share but that is all that I can share at the moment. I will miss him very much.
