Mick, to me, will always be remembered as one of the funniest, gentlest, and genuine people I have ever known. In the time I had known him he was always entertaining, never missing an opportunity to drop some sarcasm or a witty quip that never failed to make me or anyone else around laugh. As one of his son Michaels friends, he always kindly welcomed me into their home (or flophouse as he put it after Mike and I would stroll in late after the bars every now and then.) When I would be there he would spend some time talking with me, about my high school football team, stories of his youth, or in the later years, always asking me how my job was going as I eventually entered the same Union (399) as him. I cannot express the gratitude I have for those talks and the genuine curiosity he had on how I was doing. Mick was also a loving husband, father and grandfather; even loving to Ralph, the eccentric dog of his daughter Kelly. In fact, I can't recall Ralph ever listening to anyone other than him. Mick was truly a one of a kind man, possessing every great quality myself or any other young adult could aspire to obtain as they grow into their later years; he will be greatly missed.

I knew Mike from growing up in Canaryville when we were younger. I met him again when Kelly played in Windy City Basketball. He was such a good guy and supportive father. My condolences to the whole Liston family.
Sincerely,
Bob King
