Michael G. Grieco (The Hawk), 86, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024 , surrounded by his family. Born in Chicago at Mother Cabrini Hospital, he grew up near Little Italy, moved to Brighton Park, and ultimately settled in Palos Park. Dad will forever be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine "Gerry" for 67 years, loving father of Michael (Carol) Grieco, Anthony (Debbie) Grieco, Gina Posey and Lisa (Bob) Pyle, devoted grandfather of Amanda, Elizabeth, Deanna, Nicole, Mike, Sera, Michelle, Matthew and proud great-grandfather of Gwenyth, Gianna, Vinny, Madden, Miller and Luca. He was the caring uncle to Terri, Mary, Cheri, Leanne, Kevin, Kathy, and Louie and was preceded in death by his nephews Mike and Tommy and niece Donna and by his parents, Mary nee DeFily and Maurice Grieco, his sister Rosalie (Luciano "Duke") Spalla and his brother Pasquale (Dorothea "Pinky" ) Grieco. After attending St. Philip High School, Dad began his career as a local truck driver. He worked for Gordon Transport for most of his career. He loved listening to music on Pandora and never stopped playing the piano improvising as he went along. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, shooting pool, watching sports, and golfing. He even bowled the perfect game, 300, at Archer-Kedzie Bowling Alley, that earned him a special ring from the Professional Bowling Association. He loved horse racing and making his "Gravy" each Sunday. He sang with the Our Lady of the Snows Choir and continued when he became a parishioner at Our Lady of the Woods.Visitation Friday, February 2, 2024 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday, February 3, 2024 9:15 a.m. from the Palos-Gaidas Funeral Home 11028 Southwest Highway, Palos Hills, to Our Lady of the Woods Church, mass 10:00 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
