Bob, Carol and family,
What can I say? None of you have ever met me in person, but I know Bob from a professional law enforcement area online. Just from talking to you, Bob, I know how close your family is; how much you and Carol love your boys and your grandkids. I know how proud you are of your sons. I cannot imagine how many pieces your hearts are shattered into. We cannot work in law enforcement; or have loved ones who do; with the thought that we may die on the job in the forefront of our minds; but it's always there and we just pray it stays way back there. I know how much Mike loved what he did and Ive read tributes to him from friends, family and co-workers. I may have never met you in person, but we are all part of the law enforcement family. Your loss is my loss. You have my love and I will keep you all in my heart and prayers.

Mike,
When I heard the news of your death it made me realize we are a long way from the days of Martino's, the Hobby Shop, and sneaking cigs in the alley. We went from grade school sweethearts to adults overnight. Along the way we saw eachother from time to time and never skipped a beat to make fun of the eachother. I am sorry I never got to tell you how proud I was of you. You were a great Dad, Son, Brother and from what I have read a really great police officer. But Mike Gordon I will always remember you in the purple polo shirt, huge smile, tight jeans, standing on the corner of 35th and Austin with me, Kim, Tina, and Chrissy. Goodbye friend you will be missed.

Michael,
You will be missed dearly. I have watched you grow up from your early teens to become a wonderful adult, father, husband and friend. I remember as you were growing up, you wanting to become a police officer. You followed that dream and became the best at it. You were always there with a smile, a joke, a story, or just a look of warmth and comfort. I have always been proud of what you've done with your life from becoming an explorer, to join the military, becoming a father and then a police officer. You are truly an inspiration for all.
Bob & Carol,
You raised a wonderful young man. You taught him how to respect people, to have morals, to be truthful, and most of all to LOVE.

Mike,
Two years ago we said good-bye to you as our co-worker and you left to pursue your dream of being a Chicago Police Officer. You promised to visit often and stay in touch and you kept that promise. I now feel very fortunate that I was on duty last Thursday when you came by and was able to visit with you one last time. I will truly miss those good times and will always remember you as being a stand-up guy. I admired your dedication and loyality to your family, friends and profession.
I will forever miss your ear-to-ear smile, your light-hearted joking and your story telling. You never "silently" walked into a room and when you left it, everybody knew you were there because your wonderful sense of humor and personality touched everyone in your presence! It was such a pleasure to have known and worked with you. You will NEVER be forgotten!
Rest in Peace, Mike.

I first met Michael when we worked together at Brookfield Zoo. At first, I thought he was a goofball and then I soon realized he WAS a goofball. He was always ready with a smile and ready to make you laugh right along with him. I have not met anyone like him since and doubt I will.
In my early 20's I became a casual friend of Bob's, who has the same wonderful personality. Imagine my suprise when while Michael was in on leave from the military and I met up with both of them through a mutual friend!! It was one of best times I'd had in a while and an evening that was one of my fondest moments even before this tragedy.
Michael's passing was a suprise to me as the last time as that was the last time I saw him. It brings me great sorrow to know that I will not have another oppurtunity for a chance meeting to share your smile and feel your warmth again.
You will be greatly missed by those you touched.
God speed, my friend.
