Mike was one of a large group of boys who lived in the two blocks of Odell and Octavia in Edison Park in the´50s and `60s. The large group of friends all went to St. Juliana grade school. With the postwar baby boom raging, there were 50-60 kids
in each classroom. A new pastor came in when these boys started first grade, Monsignor Kilbride, and he decided that the classes should be segregated by gender. So that meant that the boys´ clique were together all day; then they would run home to change clothes and then they would "hang out together" until moms called them for dinner, and in summer they were together on their bikes until the street lights came on. They were quite a gang, and my brother
Brian Carroll was right in the middle of it. He was definitely a class clown. Brian passed away two months ago. We grieve him still. But I can only imagine this group playing softball in Heaven and just "hangin´ out." Brian is still doing his Three Stooges imitations.

Dear Eileen and all the Ellefsons,
This note of prayers and sympathy comes from an old Edison Park-Odell family, the Carrolls, who lived at 7215. That class of boys (12 in our 2 block area)were inseparable, whether it was after school or in those big classes of 60 boys at St. Julianas. (how did Sr. Remy make it?) I remember Mike as sweet and kind and quiet,(compared to my brother Brian). I found the notice just by accident. I was wondering if Sue or Jane could contact me at [email protected]. I last saw your Mom when I accidentally ran into their lunch crowd going to McCarthy's. Again, and Eileen, back to St. Julianas, he was a wonderful guy there, he only got in trouble if he happened to be too close to my brother Brian! What a loss for you and your family. I am praying that the Lord will take you through this very hard time.
