Melvin D. "Mel" Katello, age 89. U. S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Beloved husband to Lorraine (nee Hrabe) for 65 years. Loving father of Debbie Katello, Tonette (Bill) Lauer, Tammy Miller and Tim Katello (David Stone). Dear Grandpa of Erica (Frank) Leal, Joe (Brianne) Lauer, Bill (Stacey) Lauer, Amy (Nate) Darling, Dan (Meagen) Miller, Kenny (Erica) Lauer, Mike (Dana) Wasag and Joe Wasag (fiance Lindsey). Great Grandfather of 11. Funeral Chapel Service Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Richard-Midway Funeral Home 5749 Archer Ave. (corner of Lorel). Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 10:00 to 12:00 pm. Due to the State of Illinois COVID-19 guidelines, fifty (50) people are permitted in the building at one time, (this does not include funeral home staff or clergy.) Face masks and social distance practices will be observed. We kindly ask to keep your visitation brief to allow all other guests to pay their respects. Our lounge is closed to food and drinks, please refrain from bringing food to the funeral home.

My heart breaks for Tim and the entire Katello family. I loved visiting with Mel at the Kane County Flea Market over the years. He was a kind and funny man. Rest in peace, Mr. Katello. Sending you all our love.

I guess I'll be the first....There's sooo many great memories Ill always have to look back on worth my Grandfather.He was an amazing Dad to me. Not a summer would go by that we didn't have the Glen Miller band cranked up in the yard, with watermelon, cheap aldi burgers and corn on the cob. He loved to cook but loved the sales more. He will forever be missed.
