My deepest sympathies to Mel's family and all the people who knew her and were touched by her tranquil nature. I barely became friends with mel this school year but we became close friends real fast. She really was one in a million and nobody could come close to her. She was a caring, giving soul who was not selfish and ALWAYS thoght of others. She was a very smart person and i will always remember fondly all of our conversations whether they were about THE O.C or Ghandi. She will be missed a lot by everybody who came to knew her, I know I will. Rest in peace, Cali.

I REMEMBER MELANIE AS A CHILD, WHEN SHE WAS A MEMBER OF THE MSA VOLLEYBALL TEAM. I WORKED AS A PHYSICAL INSTRUCTOR AT ARMOUR SQUARE PARK, AND SHE WOULD OFTEN APPROACH ME TO BORROW A VOLLEYBALL TO PRACTICE WITH HER FRIENDS. HER POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND DETERMINATION TO MASTER THE SPORT WAS ADMIRABLE, AND IT CREATED AN ENERGY THAT MADE HER PRESENCE LIGHT UP A ROOM. I HAVEN'T SEEN OR SPOKE WITH MELANIE SINCE I WORKED AT THE PARK, BUT I KNEW SHE DEVELOPED INTO A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN, BECAUSE HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE AMONG THE HIGHLIGHTS IN THE BRIDGEPORT NEWS WEEK AFTER WEEK. I DON'T BELIEVE HER OUTSTANDING QUALITIES WENT UNNOTICED. GOD RECOGNIZED HER POTENTIAL TO GUIDE AND NOW SHE IS YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL. KNOW IN YOUR HEARTS THAT GOD ONLY TAKES THE BEST AND THAT A RAINBOW IS CERTAIN TO FOLLOW THE RAINSTORM.

When I found out I could not believe in a way I still don't. I did not know Melanie very well but I knew her well enough to be deeply sadden, I think anyone would be deeply sadden by the news because she was such a wonderful person. I will always remember her as the happy person she was. My sympathy goes out to all of her family and friends.

To Mel's family and friends- my condolensces. I know your hurting right now and nothing anyone can say or do is going to take that pain away from losing her, but Mel touched a lot of people in different ways with her generosity, kindness, smile, and her way of helping others. A lot of people loved her and will always love her. She was a great person. She never let anything or anyone get in the way of making her dreams come true. When I first heard the news of her tragic death I was shocked. That was the last thing I wanted to hear about any of my classmates especially when we were going in our senior year and only had one more year to graduate. Melanie was a great student, and always knew how to have fun. Even though we weren't close friends I'm still glad that I got the chance to know her. Even though she is not with us physically I believe that she is here with us spiritually. Now she is an angel watching over you and will always be with you.

Dear Marina & family,

Though I haven't seen Melanie in awhile, I've seen her picture in the area papers on pretty much a weekly basis. Melanie is and will always be a shining star.

As a mother, I know there are few words in which to find comfort. But close your eyes, she is there - in love and in spirit. She will remain there always, to comfort you, to love you. Look around you, she will be there, in a warm summer breeze; in the colors of autumn; in winter's first snowflake; in the first shoots of green peeking out from the snow.

We will continue to keep you and your family in our hearts and in our prayers.

Love,

Mary Kaye Jenrich

Melanie: We had a lot of wonderful times. They say that the afterlife is a pretty cool place where you continue to learn and grow into the best possible spirit you can be. My brother Danny will be there, as will Marina's brother and many others to greet you. Please remain in our lives in many simple ways. When it is sunny, when I see a butterfly, when there are blue skies, I will think of you. I love you. Cathy

My deepest sympathy to the family, to the closest friends, and to the ones who acquainted with Mel. My deepest sympathy to all who knew her period. As for me a girl who had Spanish with her and who had conversations on how Johnny Deppt was hot Mel’s death shocked me. Now when I try to remember her all I can think of is her big smile and her saying ‘Dude that’s awesome’ I didn’t know Mel close enough to know a lot about her but I did know she was a smart girl and a girl who loved to have fun. I am glad God gave me the chance to meet her, now she can be an angel and look down on everyone with that big smile of hers. And to you Mel I know your up there, dude don’t worry we will continue our conversation about Johnny soon. May you rest in peace

I am a graduated Senior from De La Salle and although I didn't know Melanie very well the time I spent with her, is Spanish class, and passing through hallways...Melanie was a lovely girl. Her sweet nature truly shinned, She was very pleasant and all too young. I am very saddened by this tragedy. My prayers and condolences in this sad sad time go out to her family and those who knew her best. May she find peace and her family in time find comfort. God Bless.
