Meghan Cashman Obituary

Cashman, Meghan Grace

Meghan Grace Cashman, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and cherished friend to many, passed away suddenly but peacefully on February 20th, 2025, at the age of 49.

Born on September 22, 1975, at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, Wisconsin, Meg was the youngest child of Thomas J. and Jacqueline Cashman, residents of Williams Bay, Wisconsin. She was the youngest of five children--joining a family of one girl and three boys--and so her addition to the family as a second daughter was most welcome.

Meghan grew up splitting her time between the Geneva Lake area and Kenilworth, Il, where she attended Joseph Sears School and the Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart in Lake Forest, IL. After a year at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA, Meghan transferred to the University of Wisconsin – Madison where she graduated with dual degrees in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in American Indian Studies, a passion of Meghan's her entire life. Shortly after graduating from Wisconsin in 1998, Meghan moved to San Francisco, which became her home for many years, before moving back to the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago to pursue career opportunities and to be closer to family.

Meghan had a lengthy career in Intellectual Property and Contract Management. She worked at Dolby Laboratories in San Francisco, CA. and was currently employed at Enova International in Chicago, IL. Outside of her career, Meg spent time working with several non-profit organizations including volunteer work for the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation Youth Camp in Eagle Butte, SD, an experience she cherished.

Meg will be dearly missed by her father, Thomas Joseph Cashman and her four siblings: Brigid Jayne Cashman (the late Cary Nourie), Thomas Francis Cashman, John Todd Cashman and Brendan Eugene (Danielle Burgeson) Cashman, and her beloved nieces and nephew, Isabella Grace Cashman, Briona Helen Nourie, Delia Esther Cashman, Maeve Maria Cashman and Liam Burgeson Cashman. She is also mourned by her aunt Mary Ann Cashman, the McGuire family, her dear godmother Jane Kraft, special cousin Beth Grossman, her god children and countless cousins, friends and co-workers.

Although Meghan's passing is painful for those she left behind, we are heartened that she is reunited in heaven with her mother Jacqueline Cashman who pre-deceased her as well as her beloved grandparents and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who have now welcomed her with open arms.

The family will have a private mass and funeral in honor of Meghan. A public memorial will be held on Sunday August 17, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., at the Lake Geneva Country Club, W3398 S Lake Shore Dr, Lake Geneva, WI.

In lieu of flowers please consider supporting one of the charities that Meghan held so closely to her heart: The 100 Club of Illinois, the Lake Geneva Water Safety Patrol, the Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy in Williams Bay, WI. or Cheyanne River Youth Project in Eagle Butte, SD. Arrangements entrusted to Peter B. Kennedy & Co., Funeral Directors. Funeral Info: 708-F-U-N-E-R-A-L.

Dear Cashman Family,
I'm so sorry and shocked to hear of Meghan's passing. I met her during her year at Cornell and just read about it yesterday. She was a super bright light, a fabulous energy and was such a warm hearted girl.
Peace be with you all,
Christina Zerkis

Dear Cashman family, I am so sorry that you -- and we all -- have lost Meghan, far too soon. We were classmates at Woodlands and saw each other a few times in California and at reunion in Chicago after graduation-- though not enough times! I have so many fun memories of Meghan from high school. She always brought her smile, big energy, big ideas, plenty of razzing but no judgement-- to every room and person in it. The picture I will keep in my heart and mind is Meghan on the first day of freshman year, just moved into the dorm, so cool with her Jim Morrison poster above the bed. My deepest condolences. She'll be remembered forever and so fondly by her classmates.

I met Megan at Enova where she was always friendly and outgoing. We talked about our different experiences with Old St Patrick’s church and our shared love of Lake Geneva. She spoke often about her family and I can’t imagine how deep your pain is now. My deepest sympathies to all of the Cashman family.
Her smile and hugs will be missed!

She was one of the best neighbors in my building. Not a best friend, but always loved her positive vibes when we walked our dogs. Does someone have Bicuit? He is a tough little pup?
