Caring brother to the late Antonia (the late Jose Roman) Martinez, the late Exiquio (Barbara), the late Eliza Gose, and the late Cruz (Delores). Fond cousin, uncle and friend to many. Mr. Almendarez would always greet me warmly with a big smile, hug and by calling me Margarita. We would speak in Spanish sometimes. His guitar was often by his side as he would finish playing for a mass at our beloved St. Ann's Church. He was a proud family man who I admired and will always hold a special place in my heart. My heartfelt sympathy to his entire family.

Lupe, Rick, Ruben, and Lisa: The world, and we especially, have lost a truly fine friend. If there is comfort to be had, know that all of you helped him grow into the wonderful man he was. In return, he gave you the beautiful gift of extending his goodness to the rest of us. While walking by his side, you have made it easier for us to follow in his footsteps. Thank you for sharing him with us, even in long-ago encounters.
