To the family of Mrs Rumatz,
I extend my deepest sympathies, and am forever grateful that I had an oppurtunity to meet such a kind and loving person. She did not only teach me English, but inspirational lessons on life. As long as we remember eaech of our individual memories of her, she will live on in our hearts.

To the Family of Mrs. Rumatz - my thoughts & prayers are with you. I am a former student from the '80s & I just wanted to let you know how special Mrs. Rumatz was. She made all of her "little Darlins" feel special - especially if you got to be called "my Gunga Din" by this wonderful teacher! She was so encouraging & always smiling even when some of the students frustrated her! She'll always be remembered so fondly!

It has been more than 30 years since Mrs. Rumatz was my 6th grade homeroom/LA teacher at South, but I still remember her so fondly and always will. She had a lasting influence on me and hundreds of others--what a gift she had for teaching. Her kindness was a model to us and we knew she loved all "her kids". I hope she knew that we loved her too, and still do.

To the family of Mrs. Rumatz-
I was a student at South Jr. High in the 1970's and remember her as a very kind teacher and always smiling. I was saddened to see her in the obituaries. Please accept my condolences and know that she has made such an impression on so many students.

We met Mary Lou at the Arlington Heights Senior Center where she was always so active and busy planning and helping at the many activities there. We enjoyed sharing time with her and stories about our mutual friends. We miss her. Please accept our deepest sympathies.

Phil and I would like to extend our deepest sympathy on the passing of Mary Lou. She was a special friend to all the Nothdurft Family as we knew her for many years. Our two families came to this country and remained friends through all the years. I am the daughter of George Nothdurft. Our prayers are with all of you through this difficult time.

Dear Rumatz Family,
I am sorry to hear of your loss. You were all so fortunate to have such a kind mother/grandmother. I knew Mrs. Rumatz years ago as she was my sixth grade language arts teacher. She was exceptional in so many ways. Mrs. Rumatz always encouraged her students to read. "Keep a paperback in your back pocket," she would say.
Because of your mom/grandma, I truly enjoyed English as a subject and learning in general. In fact, I became a sixth grade language arts teacher myself. She was such a wonderful inspiration :)
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Her guidance and love lives on in so many former students and friends.

Dear Peg and Family,
I am so saddened to hear the news of your mother's passing. I know the recent months have been confusing and that your mom has had a difficult time which has been tough on you. I have heard you speak of your mom so very many times and it is obvious that you have many precious memories to hold dear. I know your mom really appreciates all that you have done to help her, especially during this past year. She sounds like she was so very special to so many. What a legacy for her to leave to you. Please know I am praying for your strength during these most difficult days.
Love,
Gina Rusche

To Mary Lou's family,
I had the fortunate opportunity to meet and be around Mary Lou through the Arlington Hts. Woman's Club. She was a very loyal member, giving of herself in so many ways...heading the Lit and Drama Study Group, providing our Scholarship Committee with expertise through her many years of teaching, helping with our many fund raisers, being on call for Hospitality, sharing her delicious desserts at bridge and adding her graciousness and presence in so many of our other activities. She will be greatly missed.
With sincere sympathy,
Joan Walters, Pres. Arlington Hts. Woman's Club.

Dear Rumatz Family,
I was very sorry to hear of the passing of the very first person my mother met when moving to Arlington Heights in 1960. Mary Lou was always a joy to see whether it was at the ladies' 'high-stakes' bridge games, or out on one of her bike rides. I'm very sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Bill Thompson(The youngest Thompson)

To my dear friend's family,
Where do I begin to express my sorrow in the loss of your mother and a dear friend to so many.
I tried unsuccessfully to call Mary Lous this last week end and now I know why I did not reach her but let me assure you that she was in my thoughts so many times. She was such a courageous and generous person and I am so glad that our paths crossed so many years ago at South Junior High where we both taught. You and we were blessed to have her among us for all these years and as I sit here writing this my mind goes back to so many good times, times with heartache and laughter. She was truly a gem! As I sit here typing this note, my eyes fill with tears remembering so many good times. I hope that you all will remember all the fine things she accomplished.
My love and prayers are with you all.
Fondly,
Margery Bettman
