Mary PASS Obituary

PASS, Mary Frances

March 7, 1918-
April 22, 2017

Mary Frances Pass, age 99, of Spokane, Wash., passed away peacefully on April 22, 2017. Mary was born in Northfield, Minn., where she will be buried on May 13, 2017. Mary was the widow of the late Donald Pass, a US Army Veteran of World War II and recipient of the Bronze Star. She is survived by her three children, William Pass, Mary Katherine Howells, and Joseph Pass; Robert Howells, husband of Katherine; Sandra Pass, wife of Joseph; Mary's grandson, Anthony Pass, and his wife, Allison Pass; and two great-grandsons, Carter and Carson Pass. Mary earned a degree in nursing from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. She also worked as a proofreader for the Government Printing Office in Washington DC, and for the Daily Washington Law Reporter. She and Donald raised their children in Berkshire, Maryland, and later relocated to Spokane, where Joseph is a Washington State Trooper. Mary had been a member of St. Paschal Parish in Spokane Valley. Her family gathered last month at Fairview Assisted Living in Spokane, where Mary was a resident, to celebrate her 99th birthday. Mary delighted in having her family present for the occasion. Mary was a big fan of Gonzaga basketball and was very pleased to see the team reach the NCAA final game earlier this month. She had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, and was beloved by all who knew her, including the devoted staff at Fairview Assisted Living. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone at Fairview, and to Bishop Thomas Daly of the Catholic Diocese of Spokane. Online condolences may be posted at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com.
